It isn't showing up on the map when I typed it into google and the front desk told me they don't know where it is. They also said I would have to go to a shopping mall or disneyland to get to an ATM, which is further. I didn't want to sound as if I'm too lazy to walk. I've been walking and hiking all summer long ![]() Ask for directions... then walk. Then when you think you're closer to it (if you don't immediately see it), ask for more directions to get you closer until you find it. EDIT: You already did. Good ![]()

I always jiggle when people get ripped off by taxi drivers. You should accept your 86 euro loss as a just punishment for choosing the most idiotic mode of transport there is and learn from it.

Ehh, it depends on circumstances. But it is hte best to use mass transit when possible.

Alternatively you could just walk to the ATM, but why don't you ask whether or not a particular service takes credit? And alternatively to that... What opisska said.

Public transportation? Never heard of it, I'm from California, ya need a car to get around effectively. But, yeah it was stupid, but I wasn't really familiar on where to go when I stepped out the airport so I just took the first taxi that I saw. Later I found I could have just taken a bus here, but what's done is done. http://www.rome2rio.com has helped me out a lot. Thanks everyone.

I got lost in Paris though, I thought seeing the Eiffel tower in the distance would allow me to get there, but I am very bag and the buildings grew too tall to see anything. Didn't even know if I was going the right direction anymore. Also found a few interesting shops that were closed...but I will go back tomorrow to buy some stuff. It was nice seeing Sorbonne, the Pantheon, and Notre Dame. The unfortunate part of the day was that my taxi driver said he would wait for me, but he didn't keep his promise... ???

edit: I just typed in "the louvre google maps" on google and I found the louvre. Then all you need to do is set your destination to the louvre and choose your starting point (its somewhere in the options). Then they give you a nice green line to follow, or if you can't print that out or look at it on your smartphone you can just note all of the intersections where you turn left/right. If it really is only 15 mins away it can't be that bad. Anyway I guess its too late for that but I really feel like you could have made it. That it wasn't on google where you were is really bizarre. Anyway, I hope you didn't sell your clothes ![]()

The walk to the Louvre from the closest point was around 15 minutes, but I walk slow anyways. It seemed faster than a taxi and it only cost me 8 euros. I wish I had known about it before I got to Paris, fuck taxis. But, now I know how to get around the next time I visit.
