You should definitely try it! If you enjoy writing and creating your own worlds and stories, I can't think of anything more satisfying than getting to do it for yourself. The first "serious" story I wrote was terrible, both in terms of story and language. I know it's boring to hear but without trying you'll never know if you can be any good at it. And if The Hunt does get attention, it's very smart of you to already have a sequel in the works. Much stronger than the open-hinged proposition of "sequel."
