Some of you may remember me; others may not – so allow me to (re) introduce myself.
My name is Susie Kim and I am currently your ESGN TV News Correspondent for South Korean E-Sports.
What does that mean? Basically, I go to just about every single E-Sport event in Seoul and try to bring coverage for ESGN TV Daily News.
This includes the big games: Starcraft (GSL, Proleague, Sonic, Classic, and other various events), League of Legends (Champions, NLB, Masters, Ladies League, etc.), and DOTA 2 (NSL, KDL) but I also cover bits of Sudden Attack, World of Tanks, FIFA Online 3 and.. anything else that might be important.
I also get to go to all sorts of game qualifiers and final events :D
I guess the purpose of this blog is to say hello as I jump back into the scene. And before haters start hating (as I know being a girl in E-Sports is tough!), this is an attempt to preempt the hate by giving you my history with E-Sports and TL
It all started back in 2007 when I found Team Liquid…
Since then, I have casted along side of Nick ‘Tastless’ Plott in GOM Classic Season 2 in 2008 (I use the word casted very loosely here because I was absolutely awful!), arranged a handful of swag sales for the TL Broodwar community,
organized TL meet ups in Seoul and NY (I’ve blogged a bunch of those), among other things. All these things were done on my own time, as I had been working full time in Education for the past 7 years.
However, once BW died, my passion for E-Sports died with it. I just could not get myself to love SC2 as I did its predecessor and although I still attended events, such as IPL 3, 4 and 5 as a translator for the Korean players, my heart just wasn't in the game. The only redeeming factor was the community.
I have always been a people person. I love getting together with people who can share passions; the beauty of life is in the encounters one has with various individuals who have their own stories and experiences to share. It was in the relationships I had created within E-Sports that always kept me in the “loop” of sorts. I’ve met some incredibly interesting people during my journey with E-Sports.
With the revival of BW and my new found interest in LoL, (and also my growing disdain for the Korean education system) I contacted some people to see what I could do to get back into E-Sports, but this time, as a full time career, not just a side gig. E-Sports had changed immensely since I was involved, and seemingly for the better.
Badabing, badaboom. Here I am again.
Time for self-promotion!
You guys can follow me on Twitter, as that’s where I post most of my E-Sports related stuff. I hear this is what new generation gamers are supposed to do. I just follow along with what is “hip” among you young whipper-snappers.
ESGN is just starting up and I am hoping to be able to bring more content to the community soon, including interviews with Korean players, aspects of Seoul and Korean culture, and even perhaps behind-the-scenes things like team house or studio tours.
Of course, Broodwar will ALWAYS be #1 in my heart, but in this day and age, it is all about living in peace with other E-Sports too. All in all, I am excited to be back! I hope I'm able to bring you what you want to see - and if anyone has any requests, you can always let me know - I'm all ears! <3
Hey susie thanks for the skt shirt btw still repping it when ever I watch my boy bisu(T.T) or watch pro league. Thanks for all the stuff you've done, and can we also expect to hear you in the upcoming GOMTV classic revival? Nicks probably busy with GSL but I'd love to see you back with Super Daniel Man or Nicks stand in(which I just happen to forget >.< but I did like his casting knowledge)

B..b..but... but... more Starcraft than the others right? Just kidding, thank you for doing what you are doing, and best of luck in your career!
Sonic and Classic, best of news. I have very clear memories of you and nick getting owned by gom tv intro .. time and time again. Also relevant : who can forget this picture + Show Spoiler +
A piece of advice: if you cannot learn to like StarCraft 2, don't bash it publicly at least. You should be more "diplomatic". In other words, neutral, especially when you're into e-Sports because when you express an opinion, people may link it to the company you represent, then it goes downhill. Anyway, I come from BW too, but I don't like repetitive negativity towards SC2. I say "repetitive" because it's not your first post regarding SC2.

She said she didn't "personally" enjoy it... That's it.

I think I'm more worried about the League and Dota communities
You have haters? Show me where they are, I will make them ALL pay.

Lilsusie can say whatever she wants. I don't like this PC "diplomatic" stuff. It's a video game, and should get an honest review. If she doesn't like it, then so what? A lot of people in Korea don't like SC2, so it's hardly something that would be viewed negatively in her work.
Haha Nina no haters yet but just in case people start up with the "who is she and does she even play/like video games" argument, I want to make sure I can preempt them ^_^
I rarely quote myself but it seems like I managed to cross the creep line seeing as nobody picked up on it. Sorry

For some reason I had that picture saved in My Pictures for like three fucking years and I never got around to deleting it until a few months ago. I have no idea why. and I just always came across it and I was like fuck, why is that there. Don't worry, I got you.

Welcome back! I was able to meet you for a short moment at IPL3 in Atlantic City and I told you I loved your Broodwar casting. It's great that you still have the same passion for it, and GLHF at the new job ^__^

I wish ~ I've got a new life over here in the UK, but I really, really miss Korea. I'd go back in a heartbeat tbh. Anyway, welcome back Susie! I know we've not spoken in ages, but hi anyway.
Welcome back, look forward to seeing your new content. I didn't see much of your old stuff but you seem like a genuinely nice person. And I think you showed one of my friends around Korea, at least your name sounds familiar, it was a while ago and my memory isn't what it used to be

You betcha. There's no English cast for it, but I'll be there and see what I can tweet from the event. You guys should be able to catch a segment on it sometime next week on ESGN Daily News
I also did an interview with Moon (WC3 Player) the other day so that will be up shortly.
Annddddd.. I'll be meeting with Nal_rA on Saturday at LoL Spring Champions Qualifiers and doing an interview with him then too. Exciting times!
I demand 10% of all profits because I acted as your manager and told you to do all the work in contacting Sonic, finding out about the leagues, and casting BW while I do nothing except annoy you. That is how we managers do.

lol sup? Don't remember you but perhaps the TL name is diff to bnet name? Anyway, I recently got back into BW a little, but I'm not really very serious about it. I'm mainly just pokering/getting drunk as per usual

Welcome back! Your post really gave me nostalgia of the golden days of E-sports. Have you been keeping up with sonic league at all? I am waiting for Jangbi to DOMINATE again since Anytime never panned out in the league =(
<3 the fact that BW is still #1 in your heart like so many of us from back in the day...
