so I'm trying to get my brushes working. I'm using a free pack. When they use the brushes it looks like this: ![[image loading]](http://cdn.tutsplus.com/psd/uploads/legacy/186_Recessed_Type/Step_5.jpg) but when I use them it looks like this: ![[image loading]](http://gyazo.com/9c989302be05320a22fb7e787fcb2663.png) Now I'm guessing it has to do with the settings over on the right, but I've fiddles with them and I still can't make it look anything similar. Same brushes, why do mine look like poo and his look realistic?  | ||

Why does his look like an actual smeared brush? I can't get mine to look like anything but a repeated rubber stamp. | ||

 But yeah, I agree with above posters re: wet edges and directional rotation.Also, experiment. You will find you can do some REALLY awesome stuff if you just take some time to sit and play. | ||

There are 2 kinds of brushes, 1 is mainly used for making paintings and the other one is used for creating nice effects. This one is obviously not for painting. When u use this kind of brushes you select a large size and only click ONCE on the place you want it, dont move it at all. Those brushes are kind of like c4d, if you're familiar with that. You cant really change anything, except for the color maybe. EDIT; used the brushes to show they work just fine without pen pressure.^^ they look pretty blurry right now but after you use sharpen they look pretty cool ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/fur4aNq.png) | ||

it is however not meant to be used for painting (not that it doesn't excel at the task, it surpasses any other app on that too) .. it is meant to rework images ! therefore, the "finding out stuff on your own" is a bit weirder/longer than on other apps (meant for drawing/beginners) .. however, internet has loads of help (just type your question and someone has probably posted something about it) just "configuring" a brush (with tests on all platforms) could take days :D disclaimer: truncated versions are hell on earth | ||
