Great stuff. Love the solution for map-specific integration.

One concern with any mod that has map-specific configuration and also has a pseudo-economy (ie PeepMode) would be map validation. You'd want to ensure that someone couldn't earn ranking or money or whatever by using their own custom maps. Perhaps the idea of checking for resource placement could be expanded to also check for other aspects of the map to constrain the possible hacks. Ultimately, it would be ideal if Blizzard provided some sort of map signature system especially for official maps so that mods could ensure a map was a valid ladder map, for example, before allowing application of the mod.

Looks awesome! I especially liked the discussion of what Blizzard is doing to help out mapmakers and mod makers, lots of people just hate but they're doing pretty good ^^ I'm glad a lot of people have picked up on this, you've done some cool work and it's really good for Starcraft =D

Suggestion for the background of the badges: I like how they are now but have you considered only having the ring extend as far as the stars do? Or just a little farther? I feel like it might emphasize the stars more as well as making it less cluttered overall, I'd mock it up for you if I knew how but... t.t

It's nice to see some knowledgeable feedback on the value of some of the changes blizzard makes!

I think GH is an amazing endeavor and I'm blown away by all the work you've put into this (especially seeing some of the technical stuff in this blog).

Thanks for all the hard work and I look forward to using and watching GH as much as possible :D

Hey man thanks!

Yeah lucky for me I don't really have to worry about any pseudo economy stuff. But I did consider the possibility that I might need to differentiate between two maps that have the same ID at some point. I figured I would just run a special function if a specific map ID comes up that checks other aspects of the map such as watch towers and elevation levels at specific points to make a determination.

So I may just be using it wrong, but when I observe a game with the gameheart extension mod enabled, its basically the same UI, is there any way to change it so that its the sleeker looking one?

You have to setup an interface file in your gameplay options. You can download the GameHeart one here. Once you download the file you have to put it in your My Documents/Starcraft II/Interfaces folder, and then go into your gameplay options in Starcraft and set the observer interface to "GameHeart 1v1". If you do this in the middle of a game the interface will not change until you restart.

Iam a chinese sc2 player,i found GHLight map dont support in ZhCN client!when i watched uesd GHLight maps played replays 2.1.028667ver, inside the game display has problem,Production unit and MIT technology display param/value/lib bug,i used default observer ui also doesn't work, can u fix it?
