We are not Number #1, everyone the ship is sinking!
Even I have been guilty of being a band wagoner. For some time I had, I suppose a negative attitude towards Starcraft 2, mostly because of League of Legends, why can’t we be this big?
When we all started playing Starcraft 2 we all thought it would be this legendary Esport like Broodwar was. A lot of us never actually played BW I would say, at least at a competitive level, we never knew what made BW what it was. I never played BW, but I can see why it was so exciting to watch after watching some VODs. What really got me into believing the Starcraft hype was this video.

Sometimes when I lose at SC2 the thought goes “man fuck this game I should just go play leagues it such an easy game.”
I’m Gold V in LoL, and while the game is not difficult mechanically, what makes the game really hard is the teammates. The moment I turn on a LoL game and see people complaining pre-Que what role they want to play I turn it off immediately and go back to SC2. Im happy that I can pay a game at a decently high level and only complain to myself if I make a mistake.
It really makes me wonder why LoL has not implement a choose-a-role-before-que option, I feel this would really make solo-quing a much enjoyable experience.
Recent IdrA VOD stating Destiny was smart the he left early

This brings me back to my point, what difference does it matter what game you are playing. If you want to be pro at league of legends, you’ll have to put in the same hours(if not more because of the team game, your skill=/win) as you would for StarCraft 2. I feel a lot of Starcraft players(and ex starcraft players) think it is a decently easy road. I mean if I can get grandmaster on Starcraft, LoL should be cake right?
It’s kind of when a pro-basketball player plays a fun game of Football. I mean athletically he’s good, he has the speed and the right thinking, but he doesn’t know everything about the game like he does about basketball.
Same goes for SC2 to LoL. Your mechanics translate over pretty fast, you have the right mindset to train, but there is a way lot more you don’t know about the game which can only be trumped by a thing called experience.
As an ending note of this section. Enjoy the game, but don’t stop complaining to blizzard! There is so much more they can do for this game, keep talking and hopefully the will keep listening.
I like LoL and play it a bit so I can enjoy this Esport with my friends, I’m not delusional that I will ever reach full time-pro LoL or even starcraft 2, but remember whatever game you play, enjoy it because if you don’t, why are you playing it?
But if you do jump boat, be ready to fight the current.
It’s going to be strong.
Korea server and new team(?)
It seems like more and more foreigners are coming on the KR server this season at least lately, but the funny part you can tell them apart from Koreans really easily. I will try to explain how.
vs T:
Most KR/TW Koreans do not open 1 rax repear anymore. It’s pretty susceptible to early aggression(game ending or not) it really puts you behind in gas, especially if you don’t do economy damage. I mean you know what a Zerg is doing. You get about 30 seconds worth of scouting(you get to see drones producing) and that’s about it. If youre lucky youll be able to get the reaper in later, but since a bit of zerg open hatch-gas-pool or even hatch-pool-gass 4 queen, that most likely not happening.
About 70% of the time I have messaged a terran after the game “American?” they said yes. The other 30% no response so I will assume Korean/TW(but could be also American that doesn’t respond, but we’ll never know that)
vs P
This is tougher to tell. But you can tell by their amount of greediness. Most of my games that I have played against foreigner P on KR they really like to be greedy. They’ll make 1 sentry max, take 6 minute 3rd bases(whut?). To be honest telling a Korean P vs Foreigner P really comes down how well they micro, Koreans P are realllllllllly good with their micro, they also are really good at hiding probes. So hard to find them. Foreigners keep putting them in the standard spots where they see pro’s put them.
Regardless, fuck protoss <3
vs Z
Honestly my ZvZ’s games don’t last long enough to help me tell whether they are KR or FOR. I am always honest about my all-in ZvZ play. Massing roaches or mutas does not seem fun to me, and I am here to have fun, which happens to give me a nice 65-70% win rate in the matchup. I have mastered 6 types of baneling all ins for the matchup. They work nicely, I should make a video on it one day.
But yes Korean server is going well. My win rate has taken a toll this season, only 60%, not very happy about it, but that’s life. Im hovering in the 19th-10th rank in my division, depending how much I play, and recently I have had more time so I am hoping to reach top 8 soon(already playing top8 players). The only named players I’ve beat this season is TOP and avilo(may not be real avilo but I confirmed TOP) since half of the people I play are either barcode or unreadable Asian characters.
I have a new team to announce soon(?) In light of the ROOT-SEED announcement I would give it a shot, why not right? My other team I am in talking with are okay with me applying with SEED before I accept the contract. They are a good group of guys I guess a little bit of a teaser, they have a player in Premier league in one of the WCS’s.
Hopefully my Korean server shenanigans are good enough! I will keep you guys posted or if you follow me on twitter @eggysc2 while tweeting at me @eggysc2. So tweet at me @eggysc2 <3
