Prologue

Hi guys~
Many people used to ask me how did I become a progamer so I'm going to write my old experiences
before progamer and how did I get into my first team.

Originally I wanted to be Brood War progamer I have seriously started to play in 2009.
It is commonly known that Korean people put so many time in studying.
my High school schedule was insane.

Wake up at 6 am, first class begins at 7:20 and it ends at 10:00 pm
get home approximately 10:30 then have to finish my home work, sleep at 12 am

It was so insane I've never had time to play game and I think that is the reason why most of Korean players withdraw there school for gaming.

After convincing my parent, I quit my school and I got into "Amateur Practice House" which was operated by Clan Shield.

When I got there I was intimidated because there were some Semi-pros and 2nd team progamers.
House practice system wasn't perfect they didn't really care about practice.
only few people practice hard and I wasted my 1 year at there
I wasn't so good I was between A- and A (ICCUP)
(btw I met some SC2 players here. some people are doing really good)

And after that I switched the amateur team house Shield to Fou which was operated by Choya
and then SC2 was launching open beta and Choya Convinced us to play sc2 which has more opportunity to be a pro.
I think it was turning point in my life, otherwise I would have wasted my whole life playing Brood War as a amateur.

then i got back to my home playing alone and I was surprised by my self because I made #1 KR Ladder a couple of times.

And I got scouted By Clan Werra
Originally I asked them for the test but Gundam.Werra (who eventually turned out as Gay)
Scouted me without Test and Werra was planning to make their own team.

and my first tournament was GSL Open Season 1 I was confidence in my self because I was #7 ladder at that moment. I beat Gumiho and I lost to Justfake.Werra.

I was depressed that I couldn't make into GSL. and lots of players who(whom?) I considered as a weak player and it made me feel more depress. In retrospect that moment, my mind set was terrible xD

I went to GSL Open Season 1 Final with Clan Werra players.
(My closest friend in Werra was NSH.Tassadar)

And we saw Fruitdealer Won the Final which stimulated us a lot.

There was a Tournament which was operated by Thisisgame.com.
I won that tournament and received Razor SC2 Gears and I used to play a lot in Gisado's KOTH
because of those things I got Team Joining offer from TSL(I've never expected) and at the same time I made into GSL Open Season 2.

It was my life before progamer :D
Thanks for reading hope you guys enjoyed !
I'm going to write some episodes in TSL(which I can talk in public)
Any Grammatical corrections would be appreciated. <3

I don't know how it was before but your english here is quite good. Not quite sounding like a native speaker, but all your points are very clear and concise.

Also, Korean school lasts for about 15 hours each day?! How many hours are spent actually in class, and are there many break periods. I ask because that is nearly twice the length of a typical US day.

@L_Master Thank you haha

Basically there is Two Kind of High school in here

The first one they teach technical skills I guess it usually ends before 5 pm
Another one is for advanced study it usually ends at 10pm

2nd was my school 1 class is basically 50min and 10min break
I don't remember exactly but Lunch Time is like an hour and 30min dinner break time is slightly longer than lunch break.

Wow Rain, thanks for making these blogs! They're great and it's really cool to see a Korean progamer open up about his life. I can't believe high school hours are that long in Korea @_@ you don't even get to eat dinner with your family? But at least the lunch and dinner breaks are long. In the US they're only 30 minutes!

What SC2 players did you know back in BW days? Are you proud of playing such an amazing game against Boxer in MLG? What are some plans for the future? And what do you mean by "episodes in TSL"?

Also how did you learn English so well?? Sorry for all the questions haha, you don't have to answer all of them if you don't want to.

@Slowbacontron
Nice questions

I will write down few notable players such as Alive , Hero , MMA , Gumiho , Golden and Heart.

Match against Boxer made me famous after than I got 2 times more fans than before.
So I may can say I feel proud of it

Episodes in TSL, I won't say any bad things happened in TSL I'll only write some sort of funny stories and explain a little about my match against NesTea.

I've been to lot of tournament through Team Fnatic. it gave me opportunity to have foreigner friends and speaking with them helped me a lot. And after retiring I went to English institute for 2 months and my friend personally taught me for a month.
I still hang out with some foreigner friends in Korea as well.

That's good to hear, and thanks for the answers! I do miss TSL, I think everybody does. Even today people still see connections between the playstyles of the TSL zergs I'd love to hear more about what happened in the teamhouse.

Were you already skipping classes to play BW or how did you even have the skill to know you could try to be pro? (Just played on weekends?)

@dusterr nope I've never skipped classes.
I played from time to time before and I was the best In my school and I thought I was pretty good and talented but after getting into amateur practice house I knew I was wrong.

I wish I could learn Korean language at least as good as is your English. While it doesn't seem as pretty, it's no problem understanding you. Kudos, always interesting to learn more about life of a progamer, especially those from Korea, as all is so different compared to European or even North American culture.

Hope to see more from you.
