didn't post here for a while, though probably will continue to do so, since i'm not too keen about revealing my inner self..
hopefully maybe will find some understanding and/or support over here

To make long story short, i'm playing chess. And it requires practice. Well i'm a beginner. I play it for 2 years or so though, not to regularly lately because of work and need of money. How come is that when I play for some time, go through understanding some concepts, everything seems to start going alright, but even if I miss one day I already start to see a difference start playing differently and got to remind myself everything from the beginning, faster but still... like pushing a 1 Ton Rock over the hill. And seriously even though I might feel that it keeps getting a little bit smaller ( the hill ) every time I put work to it the effort is tremendous.. especially if you got to the same thing all over again and again and again ... really makes me throw up sometimes

I'm writing this/asking because I know that there are a lot of people who are really decent at coaching/managing theirselves and believe that compare to me, just know a lot.

May I ask why you are pursuing chess?

If you are doing it for enjoyment/leisure, then you really need to either take a break from chess or fix your mentality. Games really shouldn't stress you out to the point where you are seeing metaphorical rocks and hills which make you want to vomit.

If you are trying to play competitively or to challenge yourself, then you still need to change your mentality to make it more productive. First of all, stop focusing on how much effort you exert repeating the same steps over and over again... focus on your progress. Don't be discouraged. Also, if you really feel that one day greatly affects you, then make time. I mean, clearly set aside a portion of your schedule every single day so you can dedicate yourself to chess.

I know life gets in the way, but from personal experience, I found that I was simply putting it off, procrastinating, making excuses for myself. I had to take a break from my hobby and reevaluate why I was even pursuing it. Honestly, if you really want to pursue chess, then you should look forward to your chess time every day instead of dreading it or reluctantly making time for it.
