Phalanx's Daily #68: PvZ Shenannigans

Johnson, the lovable 1-st scouting probe! Dream profession is Aiur Head Chef.


Mike the stalker. Hardest working of them all, and single-handedly preventing scouting and pressure, while receiving the least credit.


Emily, the mothership core. Has a secret love for education, but quickly gets out of hand and fires photons all over the place if pissed off.


Snowden, the sneaky observer, watching out for the protoss race. He checks your computer history too.

This game is one of the few in which I can proudly say that everything wasn't standard as hell in the opening! Huzzah! My enemy zerg starts out with a 10 pool. I realize now that i totally didn't react to the 10 pool until I saw it finish... until then it somehow didn't click in my mind that it was a 10 pool. I started out by accidentally making my first pylon on 8 so I was probably more focused on getting back into my groove from that.


Hmm... looks like cancer.

A good deal of lings come right at me before I'm really ready for it. My forge isn't yet complete (I did a gateway expand) and so I'm forced to give up a pylon and delay my expansion by a long time. Not too much damage was dealt, and if anything the zerg guy did more in-direct damage to himself by making all those lings.


Darn, my first zealot's in need of naming soon... screw it, his name's gonna be Clyde.

I start to stabalize a little bit more, getting Emily out onto the field and starting up a stargate. Since I had walled myself in pretty deep, I decided that this game was going to end with an all-in. I haven't done all-ins in PvZ for a long time so I totally made it up on the fly.


Bad lings, bad! Go away!

My enemy also seemed like he was into the all-in to finish the game thing, and he quickly teched up to banelings.


Mmm looks like your building's got some spider webs on it.

While the zerg preps for his all-in, I go in for some light pressure with Emily and a voidray. I didn't get any kills, but i didn manage to see the lings on their way to my base. I was already trenched up pretty hard in my natural so I didn't really need to change anything in my play.

My enemy prepps up his ~13 banelings for his all-in. The returning mothershipcore and voidray pick off a few of them before they get to me, and he runs straight in. A good deal of banelings detonate on my zealots (what a waste!) and he moved towards my pylon... INTO WHICH A PRETTY DAMN SEXY WARPIN OCCURS!!! The 1 zealot that I warped in made sure that his banelings couldn't hit the pylons, making their only other target nearby the full-health gateway. He decides to go for the zealot none the less, picking off a grand total of 3 zealots and 1 pylon from the attack.


YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH CLYDE Mrk-IV SAVES THE DAY!

After suiciding half a dozen more lings at my wall, the zerg gears up for yet another attempt at a bust.


Aaand...

37 health forge survives.


Denied.

I can tell I'm way in the lead by this point, so I move out with 2 voids, Emily, and a warp prism, with 6 warpgates at home.



The fight is pretty slaughter-tastic. Zealot warpins via warp prism are super effective, and the voidrays kill everything that doesn't shoot up with ease.


Easy peasy lemon squeezey.

The last bits of resistance are mopped away soon enough, giving me my first non-macro PvZ win in a while. GG!
