"Being realistic is the most commonly traveled road to mediocrity. Why would you be realistic?" - Will Smith.

Introduction:
Welcome, to all the wonderful players of StarCraft 2 .

I believe that every person here has the potential to be an even greater player than Flash was at the height of his BroodWar career. I believe that every SC2 player has the ability to develop a ridiculous work ethic and practice this game every single day, without losing their love for SC2. And above all I believe that devoted practice to developing your Skill at this game will beat another players 'Talent' any day of the week.

My Goal:
Every single player started somewhere, even the great Flash was once a noobie struggling to get his APM over 25 and wondering why the patrol Hotkey was all the way on the other side of the keyboard. Yet, look at where he is now. Flash has become an unforgettable icon that everyone looks up to as the best of the best of StarCraft players. All it took, was mindnumbing amounts of dedication.

Knowing that every person has the potential to be the very best I write this blog to state the beginning of my journey to become a Grandmaster Player. A goal that I intend to reach no matter how long or how much work it takes. I have come prepared to work hard and play every single day to reach the goal that I so greatly desire.

One day I may even become a Pro player.

Current Skills:
The best place to start is the very beginning, so let's begin with a list of my current skills/knowledge.
APM: 100
League:Not Placed (Most Likely Silver or Gold)
Multitasking Ability: Can't control Macro and Micro and Chronoboost at the same time.
Knowledge of Strategy: Basically none.
Mastery of new Hotkey setup: Working on it.
Probes killed in my exercise: 1

This is my starting framework and for reference is the following video of a custom map I made.
The map spawns me with 4 bases with workers and the exact amount of production facilities to spend the money I earn, aswell as an infinite supply cap. I wait until the money gets around 8k and start producing units while keeping a probe from killing another probe until I reach 500 supply.

For now I'm not even going to bother with chronoboost or constant upgrades because I can't handle it. That is for future exercises with that map after I can control what I have.

The Future
I'm going to be updating this Blog every Thursday and Monday with my progress. I plan to post replays, thoughts, analysis of particularly interesting games and tell some fun stories along the way. At the bottom of the Blog I will always have an Extras portion that will display a link to the next and Previous entries, as well as anything else I found particularly interesting.

A big thank you to everyone on Teamliquid :D. And a future thanks to anyone who reads this and gives their thoughts or support

Love Day[9]? Reminisce with me in my Thank You Day[9] writeup - http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=417565

**
My dream is to one day influence a community as much as Day[9] has influenced Starcraft.

That's all great but I don't think Flash talked about practicing to become a great player. He just did.

I don't know how old you are, but there are probably better things to invest such time, energy and enthusiasm than Starcraft, unless you are insanely talented.
The fellow who is out to burn things up is the counterpart of the fool who thinks he can save the world. The world needs neither to be burned up nor to be saved. The world is, we are. Transients, if we buck it; here to stay if we accept it. ~H.Miller

It's funny when one puts both your sigs side by side.
And you're telling him to be reasonable, basically. Did you read his post ?

I don't regret being good at video games and spending a lot of time practicing and playing them, but perhaps you should take some mushrooms and think about what you really want in life before dedicating yourself to a videogame.

Don't get me wrong, I've done it myself, but there are far more important things in life than your rating on a video game that will likely die out in a couple of years.

sorry but that benchmark map is compeletely pointless, you won't improve that way.

You could hit definitely NA GM with 100 APM as a toss. It's not how big it is, it's how you use it.

good luck. but just go and play. fuck the benchmarking, fuck the "OMG APM," honestly until you're somewhere in masters fuck replay analysis. go play games and games and games and every now and then look at what you can improve upon and work on that. for example after a week if you're feeling okay with macroing off 1 base, work on expanding and managing a 2 base economy. or something.

remember 1) make workers 2) make supply 3) make units . do that till you're better.
keep blogging too, it'll be good motivation.
OKAY FROM THAT PERSPECTIVE I SEE WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT

Dont listen to the detractors telling you its not a good idea, if its what you want to do, do it.

Many legends if many areas of life started out just how you are, and it wont take long for you to make a decision on whether you want to keep this up or not. For now though, gl hf

Although I agree about the basic idea, saying to someone he should do shrooms without giving at least some infos about the product is irresponsible I think. This stuff is to be taken seriously, at least as a first.
So OP if you want to do them (and again, I agree it's worth it), inform yourself well.
Basics are : comfortable place, music you enjoy, orange juice + vitamin C for almost insta trip ender, turn your cell phone off, get some weed if you smoke (cigs are disgusting when on shrooms), and if possible, get a clean person around. It's best to have nothing to do the day after. No alcohol.
Think that's it.

Or you could just play SC2 and reach GM, why not after all.
