Dreamhack Stream Quality

chroniX 517 Posts April 27 2013 14:38 GMT #1 So i just noticed the DH stream quality is extra-ordinary good while just beeing a normal 720p. Can anyone tell me what makes it look so much better than the normal 720p stream? I feel like the motions are more fluid. Is it using a real high framerate maybe?

Toboe United States276 Posts April 27 2013 16:23 GMT #3 It's a mix from the higher frame rate leading to very smooth motion and very high quality settings on their encoder. Most streams streaming 720p means they are pumping out that number of pixels, but the encoder settings are low for them that most of the pixels true values are lost in compression, especially if the encoder can't keep up with fast changes in color (scene switches or lots of motion on camera). That leads to artifacts and a lower quality stream, even if the number of pixels is the same
