I kind of miss this aspect of the age games. Aggression wasn't cheese. forward building was a standard opening, not a risk like a sc proxy. I also miss the aspect of forward building in mid and late game. You covered that whole map in longhouses, none of this rallying from home nonsense. I also like the randomized maps. Getting mapscrewed could be a pity (it happens occasionally), but I love the extra dimension of strategic play based on where the resources are in that one game.
but last time I tried to play AOM again, I couldn't wrap my head around the minimap and resource counters being in the wrong place and I kept unconsciously hitting minimap ping instead of building something, for no sensible reason at all.
