edit: i agree that he shouldn't rush into choosing what to study, and taking a year off to decide is alright. but a career with a high school diploma is going to land the OP on disability or food stamps some day.

Of course I read the blog; that's why I commented in depth about his problems. I just thought that the title was changed (obviously to make fun of his odor issue).

Can't stand to not shower everyday, but maybe that's because I kind of have medium long hair.
Change can be good, you might like college. But life isn't about having things planned out for you. Some plans won't go accordingly, as your father's business shows. Sorry to hear about the business, but perhaps this is a sign for you to go out and experience the world. Seriously, sleeping over at grandma's, getting called out for smelling bad and dreading 40 minute shouldn't be on your mind.
I'm the same age as you, and it's pretty daunting to think about the future, but that's what happens in life and you have to adapt.

Wtf who changed title.
I do shower everyday guys. I put on deodorant before I go anywhere except for school. I just figured my DAILY morning shower would hold for the day. Guess I was wrong, but not really a big deal here. I'll just have to bring some with me and put it on before class.
Update is that I asked my mom about online courses. She won't let me take them and says they suck and are a waste of money. I suppose I kinda agree here, as much as I would prefer staying home to take the courses than going.
Some of you guys got it right. I am pretty anti-social. I do prefer solitude most of the time and don't actively go out of my way to be with friends. My problem with being a WHOLE 40 minutes away (not a lot for most of you) is that I have little experience with driving. I don't have a parking spot for school and the only place I drive to is to work at the family business and g-mas.
The business, for those that were wondering, buys and sells ink cartridges online. If you've ever bought one online, chances are likely it passed by us.
Edit: Jeeze, everyone seems to hate me from this blog lol. Maybe I shouldn't have included that BO problem in the op. That just gave you guys more fuel for the fire. I do live a sheltered life, rarely go out, and have never wished for anything else. I've had all that I ever needed right here for me. As it so happens, a few months from now, my brother will end up inheriting the family business, with no room for me to join. So college it seems is my only choice.
It's not that I wouldn't want to go to college and meet new people as much as it is I don't want to leave me old life. But because there isn't really a choice anymore, none of this really matters. College was my last choice when working with the family business was an option, because then I could actually take care in my work, knowing I was helping out the family, as well as be financially set without worry.
I expected the "grow up" comments because my life is rather sheltered. I just didn't know it would change so quickly. Had I known about this a few years ago, back in sophomore or even junior year, none of this really would have mattered as much as it does now because I would have had time to think about my decisions I would make in college. Starting to regret making this blog as everyone is ragging on me about being a baby.
Oh, and the overnight billionaire thing was a typo. I meant trillionaire.

Your parents are paying for your college? You should take them up on that. Get away from home and embrace life more. 4 years from now you'll look back at how much you've matured, either for the good or the bad. There's a lot to learn in life, and from the looks of it you won't stop being surprised by the situations and the people you come by as you go through your 20's, 30's, 40's and beyond.
It also takes me an hour and half to commute to school, and its a 4 hour drive to pick up my little brother and drive him home from his school. 40 minutes, is extremely trivial.

Yeah it's an 8 hour drive to my home. I make it multiple times a year too

Indeed. I sure wouldn't want to be well-known and famous enough that people would make bad posts about me online. That might just make me sad enough to consider a different occupation.
Nah, yesterday I was in a bad mood when I made the op. Now I regret making it because it makes me sound like a whiny brat who's not capable of anything. Today I'm feeling a bit better and would have worded it in a more positive light. Some things aren't meant to last and I'm sure college will probably change my life for the better.

Don't sweat it. Most of the advice here is bad, anyway.
It's ok to feel disappointed and sad when plans fall through. Your parents are trying to steer you in the direction they think is best, and while you are free to make up your own mind, parents usually have great perspective.
You will find over the years that plans for your life constantly change. The trick is to take it in stride, recollect, and move on. Good luck

I understand that it sucks when things change fast (see my previous post on this thread, i have A TON of exp in that happening to me) but these are minor changes man 40 minutes is really no big deal after like 3-4 weeks it'll seem like nothing at all but man things change SO fast in life that you honestly never know what tomorrow will bring just wait until life throws you a REALLY big change and then when you look at this blog you'll laugh your ass off i promise
