I assume noone else has anything prepared? I sadly don't really have anything either. I guess we could run either the CoC (this time real CoC in 1928) or the Shadowrun oneshot i have already done in the groupfinding thread, if you are interested in that.
What do we do if he isn't? I could still offer a CoC or a Shadowrun Oneshot, if there is some interest in that. I could also do something SciFi Savage Worlds, but that scenario is kind of only half-done, should still be playable.
So we ended up playing an awesome Call of Cthulu one-shot. A professor Merryweather entrusted his assistant, his niece and his good english professor friend with his last dying wish, to unsummon some sort of ancient beast he summoned in his youth. Xoronius, the assistant, got horribly disfigured, my Caroline turned slightly insane and Wedde's english professor got whacked over the head and went down to 1 hp, but only NPCs died this time. Success!
But the question is, where are you at Era? We miss you.
If you're having second thoughts about DMing we can probably play something else. Maybe it's just internet or IRL troubles you're having. Either way, we scheduled another session 1600 on next Saturday. Simberto will prepare something if you can't make it or don't want to play the carneval campaign, so don't worry, just let us know or show up or something.
So, i just looked around a bit and of course there was a discount on stuff expiring today, and it was cool stuff, and.... well long story short, i now got the CoC rulebook and a long campaign called "Masks of Nyarlathotep", so now i have to read a lot of stuff, and know what i prepare for next week. Avoid any spoilers regarding that campaign please.
Would still love to play in the carnivale instead of course, i am really interested to see how that whole story unfolds.
Ok, this will be interesting. This campaign is by far the most complex thing i have ever played. The whole thing is global, with multiple settings across the globe, and multiple different plots and subplots. You are currently in New York, at least one of you is a friend of an author called Jackson Elias, and all of you are people who would be hired for a complex investigation. It is currently early January 1925.
Some fun background stuff, more of this will be coming during the week.
Your use of the word "complex" makes me a bit nervous, but hopefully you don't have to drown us in obvious clues.
It's another archeology/occult type investigation I'm assuming, so we should fit in with the squad described in the second article. Not a crime investigation... Could we take on one of the roles described in that second article, or are those dedicated NPCs?
I found it quite fun to play a woman in the 1920's, I kind of want to try that for more than the one-shot we played. It also helps me to remember not to bumrush monsters and people with axes and such when we shouldn't. :D
Those are NPCs, and the investigation is kind of both a criminal and archeological one. You will get to know more over the next week. As you might notice, that article is from April 1919, and we play in 1925.
At least one of you should also have some money at his disposal, since the campaign spans multiple locations across the globe, so being able to travel would be rather useful. Generally speaking, a varied skillset throughout the group might be useful.
As for the "complex" thing, i have some ideas how to handle this, there are a lot of handouts available, so i will use the roll20 site as kind of a virtual table where you can shove that stuff around. But keeping some notes might be useful, as some minor details might become important lateron. I would also not expect your investigators to survive the whole thing, so it would be a good idea to have a friend somewhere else whom you regularly send status updates and diaries, so you can continue in case everyone gets horribly murdered.
If era can´t make it; should we do the charcter creation before or during the session? I think, If we need a varied skillset, it would probably make sence to talk to eachother, but I don´t know, what you prefer.
What do you guys think about trying to find one or two new players, considering we are now down to three players since Andrey has apparently vanished without a trace (Of course, if you have someone who would want to join, that would be fine too). That would also give us a few more bodies for things to come, which enhances the chances of someone surviving things and recruiting new PCs.
The more the merrier, but why do people keep on leaving us ;(. Are we really that mean to people? Oh yeah im sorry to inform you but i cant play this weekend.
