You put in as much play time as a progamer?
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

Probably close to it, I just didn't play one game only. I switch games often because I get burnt out on one and then play something else a ton and then switch again.

just a lack of commitment and mental error of why you're playing in the first place.

if you don't have true passion for anything you will never achieve greatness

I could be the most passionate fucker around about swimming but I will never, ever, ever, in any realm of possibility regardless of how hard or smart or often I train, beat Michael Phelps.

Sometimes you just gotta realize you aren't meant to do some things.

Everyone wants to be good at something, but you seem to be greatly underestimating what it takes to be great. If you even switched between games then you have already lost.
Yea that looks just like Kang Min... amazing game sense... and uses mind games well, but has the micro of a washed up progamer.

You say you put in a ton of effort but also say your friends played way more LoL games... that doesn't sound like you're putting in the sort of time it takes to be the best. If you game hop whenever you face a little adversity you'll never get to the very top of any of them. Sounds like you're naturally talented but can't commit to working at anything for the long haul, be it school or gaming.

In general there is a huge difference between "putting time into something" and "improving at something". Simply putting lots of time into something doesn't mean that this time is spent effectively, especially when it's about something where improving can be hard to measure (think SC vs Go/Chess).

You say you want to be a progamer, but you really don't. You want to be really good at games, sure, but thats not what a progamer is, that's just the result. Being a progamer is single mindedly devoting all of your time and effort to achieving excellence in an incredibly specific game. Not just some of it and then something else. All the game, all the time.

From what you have just written you emphatically don't want to be a progamer. You said it yourself: you don't even like games. If you don't like games, you have exactly ZERO chance of becoming a progamer. No, scratch that, you could, if you had a drill sergeant or crazed parental figure whipping your ass 24 hours a day...I'll let you in on a little secret though: You'd be fucking miserable. Being at the elite level in any pursuit is an 8-12 hour a day all the time commitment to train, and maybe .01% the nice thrill of victory. Guess what? EVERYONE likes that part. EVERYONE. You think anyone sane on the fucking planet would honestly not be not-so-into receiving an olympic medal or breaking a world record or winning a world championship....so long as they understood what that achievement stood for? EVERYONE wants to be the best. So you got attached to video games for some reason, it could be anything. Doesn't matter, everyone is chasing the same idea.

But if you don't actually enjoy the games, its irrelevant. You'll never be a progamer. You'll never achieve the concentration that would be necessary to achieve it. Its a good thing too. If you did you'd be working 8-12 hours a day on something you'd hate while sacrificing every other aspect of your life. You can't get that time back. You know how many trophies it takes to wipe out the memory of 8-12 hours a day of misery for 3+ years? You'd be a depressed wreck if you won GSL every Sunday.

You don't want to be a progamer. Keep searching. You do have a dream, the dream is to achieve excellence. Whatever pursuit you choose is merely a means to that end, but you'll never get there unless you love that means just as much as that end.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

I used to play basketball for 3-4 hours a day. Drills, actual practice, not just pickup games. By my senior year, I was backup point guard on my teeny private school's rec league team. I have been playing Starcraft since 1998 and am low diamond. It sucks to realize that you are mediocre at what you love, let alone not a pro. As someone who sees the world in black and white, learning to be happy with what I intuitively see as failure is what I hope to learn in this life.

It sucks, man.

you probably should go get help for your gaming addicting and hopefully they can smack some sense into you about this really dumb progamer idea.

Sounds to me like you just want to play games in general 24/7, not become a progamer

So no, then you haven't been putting in 8-10 hours a day for the last many months consecutively. You can't complain about not getting something when you quit after a few weeks.

Ok dude seriously, take a step back and really ask yourself.. do you want to play VIDEOGAMES for a LIVING (i.e. sit infront of a computer and click and press keys) and secondly do you actually think that its even a feasible profession? (not an insult I just mean it's unlikely you will actually be able to sustain yourself long term with a career in gaming..)

Life has a lot to offer you aren't missing out on anything. Alot of people use games as a way to escape, which is fine I think it's good to have a hobby that really allows you to get away from it all. But when it gets to the point of playing games excessively I think that's when you may need to consider to re--evaluate your life.
