EPTI find myself once every GSL season looking for trends, fun facts, etc... but this last season of WOL maybe the weirdest.
2012's Season 5 honestly felt weird to me, especially the top 4 players. I guess it would be expected to see some new faces with Kespa really going forward into SCII, but besides Hyun, the top 4 felt a bit weird.
That being said, I may have not been too off on this gut feeling of mine. Sniper falling in his group, Hyun in his as well. Ryung too. Was last season some form of fluke? Then I saw this weird trend, and if I get this right on one of my predictions, it will be a first.
Looking forward to the remaining groups, I considered the fates of the last last season top 4 finisher. Bogus will have to work hard to get away from DRG and Stephano if they are on their game, figuring there is significant chance that he will finish third in his group. That would mean, since the new format, this is the first time that the top 4 of the previous season didn't get through the round of 32. Man they might almost finish all in third place....
Then another fun trend popped up. Looking at tonights group, I have to give MKP his chances of only getting third in his group as well. And Soulkey, if Nestea continues his conquest to win the last WoL GSL, and Taeja plays as well as we know he can, Soulkey would probablty finish third as well...
With both Leenock and Creator falling third in their groups, that would mean that the top 8 of last season all fell out at the round of 32, in third place.

Needless to say, if this happens, I'll shit bricks. So, I'm putting my small neck on the line and saying last season, a fluke, the top 4 will be knocked out in this round, maybe top 8.
I hope I am wrong though (GO MKP!!!)
