I just had the most absurd ending to a dream ever. I don't remember the beginning of it because I was too tired to bother to commit it to memory (apparently you can be tired in a dream lol), but I definitely remember the end, cause I kind of stopped and was like what the fuck is this. I was actually about to check for it being a dream, but again I was too tired to bother doing the usual check, and it looked damn real and convincing so...
Anyways I was at the library (or was it some sort of presentation?) with some old dude, a professor or some expert basically is the feel I got from the dream. First we were looking at one group of books. These books were all about languages, and were ordered in the difficulty of learning them for a native speaker of English. Of course Latin and the Romance Languages were at the bottom, Chinese was above 70% of the bunch, and I don't remember what the top one was. Must not have been important. First they were ordered horizontally in two rows as you might find in a library, but later the presentation was changed to a vertical stack, with easy at the bottom and hard at the top.
Normal enough. Next was an ordering of languages by absolute difficulty of learning. The first row (easy on first row, left with most difficult on second row, right I think) consisted of languages as I expected... as in spoken languages. It got odd when 20% of the way into the second row I saw a gigantic CRC type book titled Biomedical Engineering. Huh? A bit past halfway was an even bigger one titled Math. Well, obviously the list is incomplete because there is no way a complete listing of languages would fit in two short rows, each containing perhaps 20 books.
I don't remember what most of the second row had, but I do remember the last two. Yes, this language is so hard it got 2 books on the list, both of which were small, and thin.
Ice Cube
The fuck? I searched my brain consciously (in my dream, you can think consciously while dreaming/sleeping) because I was so damn confused. No result. Then I grabbed the book, because I was so confused. What the fuck language is Ice Cube?
+ Show Spoiler +
Yea that's what the book was about. What the hell my brain is trolling me, where did that come from lol.

Your mind is being hilarious. lol
I once had a shirt in a dream that read:
"JUST BECAUSE THERE'S A TRASH CAN DOESN'T MEAN THERE'S A RECYCLING BIN - HOLY BIBLE"
Maybe my mind was making fun of the Bible, in hindsight. Either way, still my absolute weirdest dream to date.
Glad to see a fellow lucid dreamer on TL, though. ^.^ That is, assuming that's where you got the "check for it being a dream" from.
EDIT: My shirt didn't "say" anything, even if it is possible in a dream. Oh, and I didn't put the shirt on. I just took it out of the drawer and stared at it for a few moments before waking up. Even when my conscious mind isn't as active I can still go "WTF"

Yea, I do, but for some reason I was too tired to bother doing a real check. It was way realer than a normal dream I can tell you that lol.

a good trick for lucid dreaming is to have an object that you use to let yourself know its a dream. Generally its something you wouldn't see except in a specific place like an old gf's bedroom. Personally I use the moon, now i know you can see that anywhere but I use a small model moon that sits on my bedroom shelf (actually it doesn't any more, but i've been using it for over a decade lol). Any time I am dreaming and see my little model moon somewhere around me, I am signaled that this is a dream and can take control.
it takes some practice, but before you go to sleep every night think of the object you've selected, think of where it should be (i.e an G.I. Joe that used to be in your best friends bedroom as a child). Fix in to your mind that object and that place. As you lay down to sleep think about that object and how if you saw it anywhere else, it would be strange, so strange that you would have to walk over to examine it closer.
After a couple of nights you should be able to use the object to lucid dream. If you are ever in dream and want to know if you are dreaming or not, think of that object. If you are dreaming it will suddenly be somewhere near by. Also sometimes you will just see it, and immediately think "oh this is a dream".
If you think about it every night for about a month, it will be so fixed in to your mind that you no longer need to think about it before sleeping and you will essentially be able to lucid dream at will. Personally, any time I am in a dream and know I am.... I fly. Its a great feeling!

My brain is tryhard in rooting itself in plausible reality. Takes effort to fly even when I know I'm in a dream =_=.

I have had two lucid dreams - one where I lived roughly 20 years of life as a general in an unkown land and reshaped the world's foundation....
And the other - I had to stop Hermione Granger and some other Harry Potter character from assassinating the Pope or some shit like that. I can't remember quite what it was as the memory has faded. IT was complete with an alaskan cruise, drilling underneath the sea in a secret tunnel to Hogwarts, castle runs - a gay Dumbledore chatting at a table - Ron fucking house elves in the corner - siding with Malfoy and Voldemort to create new weapondry of mass destruction.
Also blew a lot of shit up.
A lot of people died - seems to be a common theme.

And yet I'm still thinking about elephants... I mean totems.

So at first you were reading, and then Ice cube... Someone must have gone to be having insulted his corpus collosum lol.
