I'm on top of the fucking world right now. And shit, it's been a long time since I've post on TL. So, I guess it's time for me to start.
I've been having pretty much the best week of my life. First, I find out that I scored really high in a violin audition: like 138/140 total points. I got a pretty decent seat in the orchestra. Also, I managed to beat my friend who has always been better than I am.

Anyway, onto the next piece of good news. At 6 PM on Wednesday, I found out that I got accepted to the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania!!!! I guess hard work really does pay off. I'm going to go to my dream school next year. I now consider myself to be a second semester senior (it's still the first semester lol). To make it even better, one of my really good friends got into Penn as well.
This didn't really happen this week, but if anyone remembers my last blog post (you won't remember), it was a girl blog. And basically I told her that I liked her and the feeling was mutual.
Sometimes it feels like that the world is conspiring to make me happy. This is one of those times.

Congrats! Quite jealous as I wasn't so lucky and got rejected from Harvard EA! I'm sure you'll love it, and glad to hear about your boo-thang as well

If you wish to continue your string of success I advise you to pursue whatever makes you happy while setting your sights on and seeking realistic employment options in your field.

Congrats on getting into UPenn. Enjoy the city, there's a lot to explore! Not necessarily where Penn is but center city/old city! I'm in Philly too.

Well it may not be the highest paying job, at least there is work available as opposed to other majors he could pursue. As long as you market your services correctly you can find work quite easily in the music industry. You will probably be self-employed for a while until you get a firm job at a music school or pro orchestra or something, but there is still pretty good freelance work out there, not to mention selling your own skills. I have many friends just starting out in Music and despite the fact the pay is lower they:
a) Can actually make work for themselves, thus ensuing a steadier pay flow. Remember that going into field with good potential salary means nothing unless there are steady jobs available.
b) Thoroughly enjoy what they are doing, and work with people who share the same passion. After all, since no one enters music for the money, all who enter thoroughly enjoy it.

I think people just saw the "I got accepted in the Arts ... College ..." and assumed the worst. XD
Congrats! I wish I could play the violin. It sounds lovely.
