GSL 2012 Season 1
This for me was probably my favorite tournament of the entire year. As a protoss player, I was so excited to see a player that I liked (Genius) absolutely demolish nerds left and right and almost take home a GSL title. His absolutely hilarious ceremony against DRG in the round of 32 was one of my favorite GSL moments of all time. I felt that the 2012 season 1 finals had the best story of any SC2 event thus far, two teammates/ good friends (bros), who had already met once before in the tournament meet once again in the final match was enough hype to keep me on the edge of my seat for the entire series. WIth all of that said it has been kind of sad to see that since that event, Genius is no longer on team MVP and has had pretty lackluster results as well.
Grubby vs Nerchio WCS Europe Finals Game 2
+ Show Spoiler +
Me during this game-"OMFG GRUBBY.....GRUBBY..... GRUBBY...... FUCKKKKKK YEAHHHHHHH GRUBBBY!!!! OMFG YEAHHHHH GRUBBY!!!!!" I'd recommend this game for anybody. Grubby is a wonderful gentlemen and my favorite player (tied with HerO <3) and I have never been more into a game then when I was watching this game live. Seeing Grubby's reaction post game was so priceless as well, it's so awesome to see a player be so passionate about the game. Also if you don't watch Grubby's stream, do yourself a favor and tune in sometime, he's very active in communicating with his fans and is very entertaining!
Finally Reaching Masters
This has nothing to do with the pro scene or anything like that, but it was a huge milestone for me. I have a history of playing games competitively and being decent( significantly better than say a casual player, but still way worse than pros) this goes for Magic: the Gathering, WoW arenas and Super Smash Brothers Melee. When I played Magic years ago I dominated local events and always did decently at ptq's, but never quite got there. I used to do a ton of arenas in WoW Burning Crusade, but i was never able to break out of the "Duelist" rank which is pretty much the equivalent to Diamond in SC2. Ever since I came to the realization that I'm a competitive gamer it has eaten me up that I always, always, allllways fall short, so being stuck in diamond for over a year and a half really "rustled my jimmies." A little over a month ago I made yet another focused attempt into breaking into masters and it finally happened for me. It was far more than a promotion to me, I felt like I was finally able to break out of that "Duelist" mold that loomed over me for years now. Silly fact is, now that I am masters I've never felt worse at the game xD. With HotS coming the game is going to become even more challenging. Never before have I felt so intimidated by a game. I only hope that I'm able to keep a good mindset so I can continue to improve and maybe one day be able to go beyond what I've ever thought I could do.
I want to personally thank Day9, Apollo, Mizu, KCDC, Monk, Alejandrisha, Cecilsunkure, RSVP and Teotia for all the help you guys have given to those looking to improve their game. I know it means a lot to me and I'm sure countless others feel the same.
The blog was called "12's" is due to my obsession with the number 12. The year is 2012 and thats what this blog is about. My birthday is 12/12, so this year it falls on 12/12/12 and as a kid I used to obsess about the day finally coming because it was so "special" :p
