Hey guys,
now that I've finally got a new computer thanks to the guys over at the tech-support forums, I'd love to play some of the games I've missed during the last 5 years of having a super-old computer.
Since I have the highest regard for TL's opinion in anything gaming, what are your suggestions?
So far those are the ones that stick out:
-Dark Souls (I'ma be all over that shit!) -Elder Scrolls: Skyrim -Dishonored -Borderlands 2 -Arkham City
Those are the ones that stood out when googling for "Top pc games 2012", "Top pc games 2011", "Top pc games 2010".
Which other ones would be dreadful to miss? Which upcoming ones should one keep an eye on?
Thanks,
K.

Sleeping dogs. Underrated game, so good.

The Witcher 2, Starcraft 2 and XCOM - Enemy unknown. You can thank me anytime.
Sincerely,
M
edit: Mass Effect 3 is a decent game, I recall. editedit: Mass Effect 2 was out in 2010, so look into that too, may as well start at Mass Effect 1...

I can only really speak for two of these on your list, but (warning spoilers in both blogs, but much less so in Dishonored blog):
Dishonored blog: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=376374 tldr: a good enough game, but not nearly as praise worthy as some are making it out to be.
Skyrim blog: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=298970 tldr: if you like elder scrolls games, this was very enjoyable, much moreso than Oblivion, even amidst all of the oddities that come with such a large and intricate working machine.
Other games to look into that I've played: ME3 (play all of them, and get leviathan dlc for ME3 as it helps the story), Arkham Asylum, Witcher 2?
Edit: fuck... Portal 2 (2011), CS:GO?

Why isn´t SC2 on your list ?
|
friends told me , bioshock is good try to look at the best sell or reduce price game
|
Arkham City was good Dishonored isn't as good as most Bethesda games; I would play Fallout over this game any day Skyrim is kind of dull and grindy ME1 >= ME2 > ME3
Check out Black Mesa. It's free on Steam.

Sc2 isn't on the list since that works at low resolution minimum details on my old machine, I'm playing that ten games a week since early beta.
Portal 2 I had the pleasure of playing on my brother's computer, was a blast.

Endless Space and Sins of a Solar empire are good, if you're into grand-scale turn-based strategy games set in space. If you like Civ-style games you'd feel at home with these.

Dishonored... amazing , but Sleepingdogs isent that good... neither is GW2 imo. . Maybe try out BattleFieldBadCompany2 best FPS multiplayer I've ever played. It's 15$ on origin sale atm.

Skyrim (mentioned a trillion times already I know but do play it) An immersive masterpiece. 100 h worth of rewarding RPG gameplay.
Fallout: New Vegas A really good RPG. Better than Fallout 3 (which it doesn't require to play and is a full game).
Deus Ex: Human Revolution A worthy successor to the best game ever (original Deus Ex). Won awards.
Mass effect series but don't expect it to be an RPG. It really isn't. The first one feels a little bit like an RPG but ME2 and ME3 are more like story driven shooters. Enjoyable none the less with the decisions from the previous games carrying over and cool shit like that. I regard this series as a part of a gamer's general education even if these aren't the absolute best games ever.
I know I only mentioned huge blockbusters and nothing obscure but I don't have time for obscure unfortunately.

You should try Diablo 3 aswell, many people flame the game, but it has one of the best gameplays! Ignore the AH and do one playthrough from normal to inferno, worth it imo!

Mark of the Ninja was way more fun than Dishonored. You can also try Dragon Age. My favorites among the previously mentioned:
Skyrim (100s of mods) Fallout:NV (100s of mods) DE:HR Witcher 2

Thanks for the tips.
Does one have to play Witcher 1 before Witcher 2 or do those have a disjointed story?
Bioshock and Diablo I've played, Fallout I'm definitely going to play!
Next to Mark of the Ninja, are there any more recent stealth games out there?
I haven't played a good one of those since Metal Gore Solid 2.

No, you don't need to play Witcher 1 for Witcher 2, you'll miss out on a few cameos but that's it.
|
Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition. I've been playing it on Xbox. I like it. :D
|
Spend some time playing Minecraft if you're into that sort of thing.
