As a student, I find that there has to be a balance between sleep, social life, school, and other activities.

StarCraft still remains something that I enjoy and value very much. Last year, I dedicated myself too much to it, playing 8 hours a day, and getting less than 4 hours of sleep on a daily basis.

Now, as a person who decided to improve my work ethic, I find that my schedule rarely leaves any time to play, which upsets me.

As someone who isn't explicitly planning on becoming a professional player-

I want to know: What's your definition of moderation? What is your idea of "enough"? How do you make enough time for everything?

Any tips and tricks or stories are welcomed.

I'm a protoss player who makes good impersonations of zerg units. No, I am not Day9.

To make enough time for everything, you need to prioritize what is most important to you, make sure you don't drag your feet or waste time (whether that is getting ready for your day or working really slowly), and try not to divide yourself too many different ways.

I have met a lot of people who skip out on promises etc because they say they are too busy, but usually these people are lazy and just not willing to make time for things that are important. There's also people who just cut into sleep when they could just drag their feet a little less during the day and have plenty of time.

What is a work day? 8-10 hrs? Plus transit. You have evenings and weekends for your hobbies. That's the life of most people.

set priorities. order the shit you need to get done, and do it in that order. no cheating, no procrastinating, no messing around. make a list and don't stray from it. you'll get a lot more done than you think you could. leaves a lot more time for socializing, personal free time, relaxing, etc.

another thing that i used to do in college was study while i eat. during breakfast and lunch, i ate at the cafeteria and brought either my laptop or my books with me so i could get some of my studying done while i ate. another way to save time was when i'd take the metro to my internship twice a week.the total travel time was around 45min, with 30min of which i could read a book or study for tests.

finally, another thing that i got over was overachieving. i used to be this top student who would spend lots of time studying for tests, researching for papers, writing the papers to make sure everything was absolutely perfect. the thing is, my goal was only to get an A. anything i do beyond what's needed to get those As were wasted time (again, my goal wasn't to learn as much as possible, it was to get As). so i started figuring out how to most efficiently allocate my time to do just enough to get an A. This includes reading the professor to make sure you know what he or she is looking for in assignments/papers, choosing "easy" topics for papers, etc. For example, if I've already gotten As on everything, and had perfect attendance for a class, I'd figure out what score I needed to get on the final in order to maintain an A. for one class, it turned out that I only needed to get an 82% on a final to maintain an A in that class, and so I didn't even study for it. Lots of saved time.

You'll figure out more cool ways to save time as you go through college
