A long time ago I watched a stream where there was a zerg player fending off an early ling-aggression. What he did was try to stack his drones close to minerals so the lings could not hit very many of them.
I have been using this technique and found it is most effective at a group och three mineralpatches where they form a small space in between them. This is a perfect place to stack the drones because only two lings at a time can hit them. Minimal damage received.
Stacking is really easy. Just rally all of the drones to the innermost mineralpatch while building waiting for lings to come out and defend. The best thing is that you can let up on the spamming for a coulpe of seconds without them going anywhere, so you can build more lings while doing this.
I have found that by doing this you can defend at least an 8-pool maybe even a 6-pool while 15-hatching yourself. Losing maybe two or three drones and then having a huge leg up on your opponent. By having two bases a much stronger economy and higher production. This opens up the possibility to counterattack or macro up with an enormous advantage.
In the following REPLAY I do just this and taking minimal losses. I do however lose the game eventually due to not making units and playing less then well. But the important part is that I hold off the early aggression and coming out ahead despite going for a hatch first.
I hope this has helped someone. It sure helped me.
