It was a gradual change at first, it was sort of like watching grass grow. You don't realize it until it's too tall and you have to mow the fucking lawn again. These changes affect me both in SC2 and out of it.

Over time in SC2, I have begun to forgo stream watching almost entirely. I have been reading more and more articles such as the TL-run preview and recap threads of certain events, but not actually watching very much of them. GSL and all European events, I wont watch the former anymore, but I will watch maybe a series of the European events.

Rather, I almost exclusively am using replays and VODs to watch games. I don't really care to watch every series, I just want to watch Bomber vs ZergX, or Kas vs ZergY, Perhaps fOrGG vs PuMa. I don't even watch a player practice on stream anymore, I go to the saved VODs and fast forward to whichever matchup I want.

With this reduced amount of content, I am not... bored for most of it.

Also, it reminds me how little a championship means these days. Because of this absolutely ridiculous amount of content. Absolute insanity, if you watch it all I don't know whether I should commend you or mourn for you. Seed won GSL, and gets very little recognition. Not too many fans, still low stream viewer count. Jjakji won a GSL, same thing. Quick question, who won IPL 2, 3, 4? Not allowed to open liquipedia or some other source.

I find that when I only follow a select few players closely (mine are Kas, Bomber, Polt) I am more appreciative of victories, and more aware of losses, even outside of their games when I look to see what they need to do to get out of a group.

Outside of SC2, fuck twitter, fuck reddit (mostly, I still glance at the titles to see if something interesting is there), and fuck facebook. Twitter is a complete waste of time, it really is just a microblogging site, it has no purpose other than to masturbate furiously to what your favourite progamer ate for dinner 5 mins ago. Reddit must be the most retarded community ever, and the upvote/downvote system is stupid. If you disagree with anyone on reddit, be it a valid argument or not, they will downvote the shit out of you because they don't want any of it. Also screddit is the only forum that makes me want to snap the necks of every single super low level sc2 player. I love you all outside of that forum, but enter it and you automatically piss me off so much. Facebook, I am done with memes, done with people doing those chain-mail type threads, done with emotional shits. Unfriend, unfriend, unsubscribe since you might actually send me a useful message some day.

Oh and television, haven't watched anything for 6 months. I did buy game of thrones s1. But I want to get to the content I care about, so I don't have to wait for a certain time of day, or sit through many commercials.

tl; dr, With the absolute cacophony of content being thrown at my face, I got tired of it and cut out vast amounts of it.

I see the same change aswell, and basically rush to read articles, don´t watch streams and cheer on a few selected people (bomber, idra) and feel much more for teamleagues than individual these days.

Just as you I also quit facebook, twitter and other social media. Or well... I haven´t quit it, just cut down on them. I go in and skim quickly and use it as a chat tool, I really don´t ''do'' anything on there. This isn´t because I think facebook is for losers or that it is just a waste of time or that it is ''stupid'', quite the opposite; I find social media as great tools, and I love using them to interact with people (I infact hate people who look down on those who like to post what is happening, but that is for my own blog). But I don´t use them in general, I use them for specific tasks and then I close the facebook window, rather than like before, where I would probably keep it up.

Tv? Haven´t watched that for 2 years I think. And reddit has in a rocket fashion lost interest from me, I barely use it anymore.

However

to be clear: I haven´t stopped using all of these services because it is stupid or a waste of time, just that they aren´t giving me satisfaction and are just bad products.

I think this is a good thing, there's so much useless bullshit which isn't even entertaining in some media that you just watch/read regularly just because you are used to it and other people do it while it's just a waste of time.

Myself I deleted facebook/ all social media years ago I just use twitter sometimes cause I feel it can still be entertaining. I glance over TL and screddit daily I never really post on reddit for the reason you've mentioned, and while I feel there are some interesting reddits the upvote and karma system and the community in general barely make it worth a glance.

I really don't understand why people even watch TV anymore either. I don't think I've watched anything but a few movies and the news in the last year or 2-3. Dutch commercial TV is probably like in any other country: pure garbage.

As the amount of (social) media grows in our daily lives I'm sure in the future more people if not everyone will become very selective about the media we consume.

Ofcourse my opinion is entirely subjective so people might disagree.
