EPTI wasn't sure if I could post this in the SC2 general area so I wanted to fault on the side of discretion.
To add some substance to the blog (as opposed to just asking a general question and leaving it at
that) I wanted to address the huge entertainment value that Esports is capable of. Artosis/Tasteless
continually show that casting the game doesn't always have to be about pure analysis and that
"sports" can also be a great form of comedy. My wife, who really only knows about Starcraft from
what I tell her, loves watching casts, not so much for the excellent strategies demonstrated by the top
tier players, but because she gets a kick out of the casters. As a very promising marketing major,
she believes that this entertainment value is very important to not only the future of Esports, but also
to making SC/LOL/COD etc. mainstream. So, I just wanted to get the communities opinion on what
they think is the funniest, ROFL, knee slapping, line in Esports is. Of course I am a huge Tastosis
fanboy, so my top 2 (tied of course), are "UH OH, PEEKABOO NERD!", and of course Artosis yelling
out "WHATS UP!!! I'M NESTEA!!!!" after a huge burrowed baneling detonation. Of course I am quickly
becoming a huge fan of the Doa/Joshy combo so their lines are definitely up there. I think this thread
will not only be a great way of revisiting some awesome matches (Artosis screaming "BIT BY BIT"),
but also a great way to get some lesser known casters with a sense of humor a little bit more
attention.
Furthermore, please feel free to post any opinion on the entertainment value of Esports as a whole,
not only to the community of nerds that we are, but also to the mainstream.
