The conpetitive pokemon in me....

Gengar, dragonite, zapdos i think were gen 2's top tier. Drag probably wont go since he evolves at 55...

I think gen 2 special/attack split by move type, dunno if there were natures.

So just so go gengar for special, zapdos for special, and pick a physical. Unfortunately i dont remember top tier physicals cause gen 2 lol

Also dont forget to abuse stab (same type attack bonus)

Edit: i was thinking of gen 1 lol

if there are no bans, Mewtwo is op, as is lugia, though you may not want lugia if you go skarm/bliss.
just remember this was after the special atk/def split and before the gen iv phys/spec split thing and you'll be fine

You should definitely check out Curselax.

Rattata was gen 4 since it needed a focus sash. (Phanphy sandstorm variant is sicker anyway)

Tyraniboah is gen 3 because of focus punch.

Augh, so much competetive pokemon nostalgia, goddammit.

Gen 2 pokemon. When I played Crystal Snorlax carried me through most of my battle tower games.
Ruby Sapphire were just a quick clear.
Then when I played diamond/pearl I learned about competitive pokemon and baton pass teams. You know when a trainer uses a move that increases their attack and you think "well that was a stupid waste of time!" ? Well when you use it 6 times your attack increases by *4 which is approximate to *4 damage. This is true of speed, spattack, and all the other stats too. I beat diamond pearl with pokemon with low bases stats. Nothing stronger than an eevee using this strategy.

If you have the time then go through smogon.
All the legendaries are overpowered except for the ones with bad typing like moltres (fire and flying = * 4 damage from rock)
Wobuffet is supposedly broken with his move set and pokemon power.
Steel types are really strong outside of competitive pokemon just because their typing is so good and most people really don't have plans to counter them. Dragon is strong for the same reason.

eziest solution is to go to smogon ( http://www.smogon.com/gs/tiers/ ), check out some OU/ubers, and copy some skillsets

Easiest way to play Crystal is to get Feraligator and use him for like 80% of your battles, for the other 20% switch out your Feraligator if they are his weaknesses. Your Feraligator should be like 10-15 levels ahead of any trainer you encounter. Don't forget those flying pokes, cutting pokes, strength pokes, Feraligator should not have any of those HM moves on him, they just take up valuable real estate. The only HM Fera should probbaly have is Surf since it's so much better than the rest of the water attacks up until it gets Hydro Pump and even then, it's inferior to Surf (I'd keep Surf over Hydro). Give him different type attacks so he becomes effective against the most types of Pokes.

^^Best Strat in any Poke game. The reason for using Feraligator is because he is super affective against the most Gym Leaders in G/S/C versions. edit: Come to think of it, Water is always the strongest starter against all the leaders in all the games, it's not like they add new types ever game, right?
