Not huge into nightlife or old museums, what else is good here? Ottawa kinda sucks! But definitely go and check out the Bayward Market -- there's lots of cool places to eat there.

Oh fuck it, it's Bluesfest... You should go down to that: http://ottawabluesfest.ca/ The only really fun day to be in Ottawa is Canada Day and that's about it.

Sadly no. Considering there's a law where no buildings are allowed to be taller than the Peace Tower in the DT area. It really limits the growth of the city. I haven't lived there in years and I'm sure there might be other stuff at Lansdowne Park or the outskirts, but it really isn't worth your time. You technically just missed the Ottawa Fringe Festival so Blues Fest will have to do. There's a number of pubs and nightclubs there but they all tend to be very small. That might not be such a bad thing because odds are you are going to run into a lot of the artists.

I was surprised to see it as the top thing on tripadvisor but now I know why... still might try to see it myself. Rooming with two girls and they have 0 interest in that -_-. Thanks for the tips everyone.

Locals are playing a tournament (well three tournaments for different levels) and the finals will be played at the bar. http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/420036434706810/ I'm not going to be there but they are usually fun. Or bluesfest. Or bike along the Ottawa river and Rideau canal. There are these rental bixi bike things around town, if you can rent one of those for an afternoon (7 bucks for a day I think) you an ride around, and ottawa is much nicer from the seat of a bicycle than on foot.

Thanks for the tips! I took a quick run this morning along the Rideau and it was very pretty. Lots of big government buildings around but hard to imagine that this is the capital of Canada. I might try the bike thing out, and saw a lot of them around town. I would try to go to the barcraft but I am still not a huge fan of sc2 :-(.

(See what I said about the peace tower) The Canal is nice and all, but there just isn't much there man. Ottawa is Toronto's bish. There's a long story as to why it was made the capital while Toronto gets the capital of Ontario bragging rights o; Like I said, you should enjoy the nightlife there while Blues Fest is going on. Small venues and all the celebrities are out on the town. LMFAO was just at Junxion the other night.

At least that's what I presumed they are with the dudes wearing red and the bagpipes and stuff outside. I need to check out bluesfest but I have to be at the conference late tonight/tomorrow, and hopefully Monday I'll go out at night.
