It was dubbed eSports.
So fragile yet,
To merely whisper
Would cause it to vanish.
This dream so close,
Yet so far
Simply irresistible
The holy grail of gaming
Her greatest work.
It's now in the making;
The time is,
opportune.
The community,
Strong.
Shall we then go down as the greatest community the world has ever known? Or is it to be disintegrated when it's time has come. Who then will prove that there is any merit to gaming, what then will children have to tell their parents if the current strongest community out there could not save themselves from oblivion? This evil is yet upon us, disguised in golden wrapping and sweet champagne. Blinded by the beauty of it all, is it really of our making? No, it is a device programmed to play us, not as equals, but as pawns. We are merely the pieces of a chessboard. Entertained too much to even consider the bore of thinking, rehearsing, executing.
There once was a dream that was eSports, where has it gone? Lurk through the forums, eSports is everywhere, yet this is a ghost, a mere fabrication of the enemy that threatens the very communities that should comprise eSports. How yet to bring this vision to life, that which we cannot distinguish from it's very own mortal enemy? How are though to proceed if the future is full of shadow. Brothers and sisters, brought to arms against each other. Cease now before all is lost. There is no glory in war, there is no glory in destruction. There is only pain and suffering. Day by day the pillar community, head pioneer of eSports disintegrates into nothingness.
There once was a dream that was eSports, how then do we find it? The dream of a complete gaming community, is that of the sweet discussion of your local sports bar. Hath though complain to see rugby over football? Were the alarms risen when the big match of the playoffs took over the screen? None of this. The sports are united on a common front, while they all share their differences, they all share as well a common good, the discussion that revolves from it. Why then can thy not be the same, art though so different? Yes, we argue, yes, we fight, but do we hate? The strongest community, the pillar upon our peers, can we hate? No, we cannot.
There once was a dream that was eSports, lets do it. The community, self sustaining, perpetual, untouchable. The platform that is based around sports is not of the age, it is of the community. Stand by your game, whatever the game may be. Stay strong as a unit, never back down, never compromise except in the face of your allies. All games are one and equal as long as they are judged to be so. Who then decides what sport we shall play? The driver who is interested in but your wallet? The man down the street? Your cousin who plays World of Warcraft? None of these, the Starcraft community is strength. Show this strength for in the end, there is nothing stronger than your community. Not even the business man himself. Here now, you are no longer playing for Starcraft, you are not fighting for Blizzard, eSports, similar to other sports, have various costs representative for materials, however, they are ruled by community. Not men in high towers with ill knowledge of your needs.
There once was a dream that was eSports, and so shall it be. A community, who do not share the same values, however who are united on a common goal, no judgement is past between these. One is not better because of the games he plays. Greatness is only achieved from playing games because you choose to and to be accepted as well as accept others who may be different that yourself. eSports is not controlled by the corporation, it is controlled by the community. While the illusion of eSports formed as a mist has already severed many bonds, these are not forsaken, nor should they be.
My name is Benjamin "eywa" Petroff and I play Starcraft:Brood War, Dota and Call of Duty. I proudly support eSports and all of it's glory.
I rebel - therefore, we exist ~ Albert Camus
We are all rebels, free by nature. rebel in the simplest sense, we must affirm our existence and let it be known among others. Resentment, not something that we feel, for we are beyond this, we are the creators of eSports. A bond that keeps the theoretical equalities that are upon us to actual equality. In this I trust, the community is strong, in no way could this fail.
