I have grown to love the average pro gamer. From my first weeks of Starcraft onwards, I have understood that at least the Koreans practice over 10 hours a day, and many top foreigners do also. But it is their sense of motivation and willingness to succeed that really inspires me as a person.
I just want to share something today that really made me appreciate this amazing breed of person even more. Testie, for those who don't know him, is a former BW player who played random, and now plays HoN full time. He practices virtually all day ( his stream is always online basically) and in my eyes he is one of the few that have practically mastered the game. He plays ever hero with ease, and dominates 99% of his matches constantly. Had the highest gold average in HON for several years running, and is a legend of the game, again, 99% of the time.
Today I witnessed that 1%. For one game, he and his team were absolutely dominated. I have never seen him go negative before today. But even worse, the other team were cocky little $#%^& who constantly taunted him, teased him and spammed the chat every time they killed him. I felt so god damn angry, and I thought about what I would do in his situation. I would have tried to retaliate with some words of anger at the very least. But I would have felt so depressed, and sad for playing sub par.
Testie just took all the criticism, never said a word, and just added the guy to his ban list after he kept taunting him even after the game finished. He then instantly went on to the next game, not saying anything, and helps his team to a 15 minute victory and having the highest gold per minute in the game by a long shot. This ability to ignore the criticism of others and just pursue your passion/interest/whatever is something that I really have to learn for myself.
But with these amazing people I see on the right hand side of TL every day as my inspiration, i know i can learn to be like them one day
TLDR: Pro gamers ability to move through criticism/losing games and keep on honing their skills is something I want to learn to incorporate into my own life
