Yep: I beat my first Diamond on NA today. It was a sadly anti-climactic game though. PvZ, I 7-gate +1/+1 immortal all-ined and won fairly easily, though the guy did put up more of a fight than most with roach/ling/infestor. I only all-in on Korhal Compound, because it's so hard to take a third there against the mass roach style.
Also had a fairly humorous PvP where my opponent went for a certain gas-heavy Tier 3 unit off 1 base and pushed. No, it was an archon. Upon seeing this, I remained on one base and prepared this warm welcome for him:

I didn't even micro, just leisurely threw up a Guardian Shield halfway into the fight. When his Zealots actually made it up the ramp and split up, making my Colossus far less effective, I thought about kiting, but by the time I made up my mind to do it, they were pretty much all dead.
I also lost a couple of games, one to muta-ling, one to a medivac drop. I was feeling pretty awesome that game, because I had his third under invisible eye, and the instant he put it down I slaughtered it...and then I realised he'd dropped in my main, and I'd left no drop defense at all. And I brought my army back to defend..and he dropped my nat. Desperately I all-ined, and broke his front, but was unable to break into the main with the forces I had left.
So a back-and-forth day of stupid losses and convincing victories. Just another day on the ladder. I'm starting to come up against Diamonds semi-regularly, so I can now call myself a mid-high Plat. Looking forward to high Plat, and setting my sights on being placed into Diamond for Season 8.

Congratz! :D Haha, I dont remember by first game of SC2, but i remember my first diamond! :D which came after 400 wins! Now im Top 8 Master, and still cherish that first diamond more than my own rank! :D. Best of luck to you sir!

After reading posts like yours I feel horrible for being Diamond since Season 1, lol.

not as bad as me... I've been plat since season 2 (when I really first started playing)

Started out as Silver in season 2 (only started to play seriously since then, like the poster above me also said of himself) and am in Diamond now on the EU server. It's been sort of a gradual process until now, but I am very pleased with myself so far :D Congrats on your achievement!

Congratulations! Youre not as far off as you think id imagine, keep doing well! I just got into Mid-Diamond (rank 23) let me know if youre interested in practice!
