EPTHi guys!
So I wanted to talk about my experiences on the EU-ladder today. First off, let me talk about my Starcraft 2 ladder-career:
--My Career--
I placed Bronze in the first 3 Seasons and didn't know how to get out of it. In Season 4 I decided that enough is enough and that I can't be forever Bronze. So I decided to play a lot more. I played 50 games in 2 days and I got promoted to Silver immediately. I stayed in Silver for Season 4 and got to Gold by playing just a few games a week in Season 5. So I'm in Gold for 2 Seasons now.
--My Race-
Playing Protoss got me to Gold, but I was not satisfied with my PvZ in my first few Gold-League games, so I switched to Zerg in Season 6 to have a bit of change in the game. That didn't really satisfy me, but I played a solid Season in Mid-Gold, but nothing more. This season I decided to play Protoss again, just because I think it's the race I play the best.
--My Goal--
My goal this season is to establish a place in Platinum league. Just as I did in Gold, I want to be able to compete on Platinum-level. Last seasons goal was simply to stay in Gold and strengthen my skills. I think I'm not there yet, because I don't have too much time to play, because of my job, but I could definitely play more ladder games than I do now.
--Season Start--
So I played my placement match today and I won it! I didn't play 1v1 Protoss for a while and I remembered my PvZ weakness, so I was scared when I saw my opponent was a Zerg player. I started off very standard with a 3-Gate-Expand into a very defensive play. Fortunately my opponent didn't attack me, so I had time to prepare a push. I did a strong gateway unit push off two base with some Stalkers, Sentries and Zealots, but I failed. I killed most of the Zerg army, but certainly not all of it. The Zerg army was only Roaches and Zerglings, which made my decision what to do next an easy one. So I built 5 cannons in the choke point to my natural on Cloud Kingdom and went 2 Robo collossus. With 4 Collossus and 2 more on the way plus Stalkers I moved out again and established a 3rd Base while doing so. The Zerg player teched to Broodlords, but I hit before he could morph them, so he only had a bunch of Corruptors and Roaches vs my Collossus-Stalker army. I won and placed Gold again.
After that I went for 4 more games. I won vs a pretty weak Low-Silver player, who probably got ranked vs. me because of the new Matchmaking System. He went for a Forge fast expand vs Protoss...I 4-gated...'nough said.
The next game was vs. a Platinum Terran on Ohana who had his placement match vs. me. I played standard again with a 3-Gate-Robo expand. He Reaper-Expanded sending 2 Reapers to my base. I denied it with a Zealot and a Stalker very easily and expanded right after killing the Reapers. I followed up with non-stop Immortal production, Sentries and Chargelots. That countered his Marauder, Marine, Tank composition perfectly and eventually I won easily.
When I went into my next game I disconnected and got a loss - very very annoying, but shit happens.
The last game today was vs. a Protoss on Cloud Kingdom. He went 4-gate and I defended it with 3 Gate Robo, but failed in the end after not seeing him go 2Robo-Collossus. I had not enough Collossus to keep up with him, so I lost.
--Conclusion--
So after all I think I had a great ladder day..I defended my Gold-spot and am now Top 8 in my division. After a long time I had fun again and am looking forward to the next ladder-day..=)
