When you're first starting out in starcraft, making a strategy and applying it is a lot like producing a pornographic film on a shoestring budget. You seek out a model whom you find suitably attractive, such as miss four gate or miss some build I saw Thorazain do on the Day 9 daily. Then you compose a script or vague conception of how the 'story' is supposed to play out, which is mostly just stuff you think would be hot I guess. But before you even get to the point where you try to produce the film, you arrive at your film site only to realize that you somehow managed to book a room inside of a daycare.
What do you do?

Act natural and record the event for posterity.
After beating my way out of lossbot land, I ended up at the minimum MMR for people who are physically at their computer. Right above that spot you have a place where MMR is effectively meaningless. In the style of the woman pictured above, I decided to 'go easy' on people which for me means that I was 'playing normally.'
The following two replays aren't really worth watching, but I've included them for the sake of completeness. They're more like citations. Or I guess you can see how bad I am at starcraft. Whatever. Of note is that neither player talks. I think this is because pressing enter is an advanced technique.
A player that does not make units.
A player that makes units.
What these replays are demonstrating is that at the lowest MMR, someone who makes units can easily have a lower MMR than someone who does not make units. There are a few good reasons for this. The accuracy of any rating system is much worse at the bottom than at the top. Why?
1. Jerks like me who have tanked their rating to Bronze. You can't choose to be a grandmaster; anyone can be Bronze at any time they want. Half the people in this basement of bronze MMR are here intentionally because they don't want to play at their MMR, for whatever reason.
2. There just aren't many players at this MMR. It's not uncommon to play someone twice or three times in a row.
3. Lossbots are still present at this level, so it messes with ratings a lot.
4. The more you learn any skill based game, the things you can do to improve become more and more subtle. Somewhere, there has to be the line between people who build units and people who don't, and it's right here. It's just not a fine line where bad players are under it and better players are over it.
But enough about that, let's look at some low MMR anger porn:
