I have been thinking alot lately. I hate where I live, this country is the most boring place in the world. Nothing exciting happens, there are no opportunities, no jobs, nothing fun to do or go see.

I will be going to University next year, but I still have to stay in this country due to the price of tuition fees elsewhere. If i move to England the tuition fees are £9000 plus accomodation, and as well the US Unis are ridiculously expensive. I really would like to move to the US, the few times I have visited I have found it is an awesome country. So many opportunities for an aspiring Computer Science student like me.

There are so many small and trivial things that I hate about it as well. Even small things as there being absolutely no starcraft community ( i know that shouldn't really matter at all but its a number of small stupid things like that)

I get an opportunity in my third year of University to go and study abroad. I am going to take it at any cost, no matter what. I need to get out of this place before it depresses me anymore. Also, don;t get me wrong, i have tons of friends and a good social life. So its nothing to do with that really.

Sigh.

The sooner the better.

You can go to US community college to get a degree as a foreign student and the fees can be very reasonable.

In fact you can do this in many countries.

@Elsid "Northern Ireland" Another thing i fucking hate is worrying whether to say northern ireland or Ireland in front of other people.

@Gryffes Thats really interesting actually, didn't realise that was possible, having a look now actually, any idea which level I should be entering at?

Screw Czech Republic, I'm moving to Korea. Too few people playing BW here these days. Good luck with your "escape".

That actually has nothing to do with it. Its just a small example, its things like a really small amount of concerts, not many event.... Way to single out one thing i said in my whole post.

Sorry, I wasn't singling anything out. I'm planning to move to Korea and this is one of my reasons as well, there are many others. So again, good luck, no misunderstandings

You can try to get a summer job abroad - your univesity should be able to help you with that. And then, as you said, you can study abroad for a semester.

I have a friend who has the same problem as you, unfortunately he studied Dutch taxes and is quite stuck in his country because of this. Not many job opportunities for him abroad.

So don't forget to look at the bright side too, your future can be everywhere, as a Computer Science student you can get jobs everywhere in the world.

Yup, I hate Ireland too. Last time I went there, everything was closing down, shops, restaurants, hotels, so depressing.
And on top of that, weather and food were like the worse I've seen in my life.

yea, one of the main reasons that i want to do CompSci. (Apart from the fact i love the subject ) is that it is transferable anywhere in the world..

@Chill, hopefully....

Yea this is a good alternative, I had a couple of UK guys in my year.

If you're a EU resident you can go to college here for about 1.600 euro's in tuition a year, while qualifiying for dutch government support around 300ish euros a month.

Accomodation is going to cost you around the 300 a month for a small room in one of the less crowded cities. As a foreign student you qualify for student housing immediately, which is usually cheap as hell. For technical studies, both the university of eindhoven and the university of twente are relatively cheap accomodation wise. If I recall correctly in twente for example, you pay 240ish all inclusive for your accomodation.

Go visit Australia, I lived in Melbourne for 6 months and it was great! Get a part time job and just learn and enjoy and lots of Starcraft players in Australia too!

Seriously check out the link and take a year off of school and just learn new things. Why not? You're young, not married, just go for it!

Wow, you guys in this thread have been brilliant. Im seriously looking into some of these options. Specifically the one that MightyAtom posted. Didn't even think of Australia for something like that as it has such a reputation of being impossible to get a Visa for.

Plus, I might even be able to visit korea from there which i have always wanted to do.
