Spending time with the girlfriend in Atlanta, GA. I've been literally working 70+ hours a week, 7 days a week, for 2 months now, with the earliest I've been able to get off work at 4AM (so I'm not home until about 6AM usually).

So I haven't really done my research yet, and neither has she (she's going to GTech).

While here, I was wondering what a few good places to eat were. Like, really quality places. I'm not exactly looking for expensive, but what I mean is places that are top notch, or a real reflection of the cuisine of the area. And, yea, a few good high quality places would be nice too. Just places I shouldn't miss. I have the money for it, after all.

I was also wondering if there was a tech shop around here. I forgot my mouse, and it's about time I got a new one anyways. I know the basics about a mouse... I guess how CPI/DPI works, but that the majority of buying a mouse is just how it feels. I currently have a kinzu, I love the mouse, but the sliders on it are like sandpaper. I know it's basically between steelseries and razer though. Anyways, just wondering if like I should go to tiger, frys, etc.

And then, yea, any general attractions to go to. Obvoiusly the Aquarium and Coke factory (i fucking love coke, and I've already eaten a half gallon of blue bell, that shit is soo amazing, I'm a HUGE ice cream connosieur and blue bell is definitely tops).

Will update, going to some fair now!

Cant help you much about finding a place for a nice cuisine..but a mouse.. I love the Razer Deathadder

Its a very nice easy and functional mouse. Has 2 extra buttons on side so it doesn't get too complex and I'm sure they even make left handed versions. These are priced close to 50$, at least that's how much it cost for me.

If you get the chance to visit the Tech campus please blog about it! I was just accepted to Tech undergrad and will most likely be attending, but I have no idea what Atlanta or the Tech campus is like. Sounds like you're having fun so far, hope you continue to enjoy the rest of your stay!

I was in hotlanta last summer and it was great. I haven't eaten at all the good places but here's a few:
FLIP Burger - owned by Chef Richard Blais from Top Chef, can get some really good and interesting burgers/milkshakes
South City Kitchen - serves upscale southern food
Gladys Knight's Chicken & Waffles - it's chicken & waffles and it's owned by Gladys Knight
There's a variety of international restaurants that are on Buford Highway, including dim sum, Vietnamese pho, Korean BBQ

Enjoy!

the Varsity is kinda iconic for Atlanta if you are in the mood for greasy fast food. As for real nice places, Fugo de Chao is incredible. Be warned that its a real expensive Brazilian steak house that just shovels meat on your plate till you say to stop.

You definitely have to eat at The Varsity since you mentioned Georgia Tech. Fellini's is probably the best pizza in town (they have a couple locations). For something nicer, the Atlanta Fish Market has good seafood, although don't bother with that if you're from the northeast or somewhere coastal.
Of course, you only live one life, and you make all your mistakes, and learn what not to do, and that’s the end of you.

I will endorse this mouse as well. It is wonderful. I think I paid $59.99 for it. So it isn't bad. definitely the best mouse I have had.

Also, Atlanta is a cool place. Been there many times, but I haven't really been around the town looking for restaurants so I can't comment on what is good.

Atlanta resident here. Been to flip burger and south city kitchen., overpriced and overhyped unfortunately imo (especially FLIP ) but maybe I just had bad experiences. Here's my personal picks:
1) Taqueria del sol in Decatur: Extra cheap and extra tasty tacos. Get in early if you dont want to stand in line though.
2) Murphy's in Virginia Highlands: Pricier but delivers more often than not. Have had some not so great dishes here but their good dishes are damn good for this price range. New southern style food?
3) Cakes & Ale in Decatur: Another pricier one, haven't been here but everyone I know really enjoys it.
4) Honey Pig in Duluth: Best Korean BBQ I've had so far in Atlanta, pretty good.
5) Bacchanalia in Westside/Atlanta: If you're willing to spend the big bucks, this is the hands down best restaurant in atlanta. Only restaurant in ATL that can match the $$$ restaurants in bigger metros like NYC/LA/Chicago
6) Cafe Alsace in Decatur: Small French restaurant in the downtown Decatur area. Very enjoyable.
7) FARM BURGER IN DECATUR: Best burgers in ATL imo. None of that ridiculous shit at flip burger, just damn good burgers. Good ingredients, you customize, freaking amazing.
8) Hankook Taqueria in Atlanta: Korean + Mexican. Works well, you'll like if you like korean and mexican.
9) Fat Matt's in Morningside: How could I not mention a bbq place? Go there, eat ribs, be happy. Awesome little place that has great ribs.

There's probably more good ones but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Edit: Oh you're near tech, that puts you a bit far from most of my recs unfortunately. Oh yeah, if you like wings go to JR crickets, should be closer to you and according to my GF has the best wings in atlanta. Varsity is also close by but its more of a tourist attraction than a good place to eat for cheap imo. Would go there just to say i've been there.

What is edm?

Sorry, no varsity. Its just a mcdonalds. The FO was pretty low quality ice cream. I understand its an institution, but the food is completely average. I have no idea why its so special.. that said, ill get a chili hot dog and onion rings later, I might be being a bit harsh, but really.

Right now I'm at rays seafood, after watching st paddies parade. Going to get calamari and tuna.

Thanks zeal, nice advice! We went to hancook (or maybe that sister shop). It was good food, byut not my style. I still was glad to try it though, definetely worth the visit

There's a Taqueria on Marietta Street really close to the Tech campus. Definitely check that place out.

There's some excellent Korean food a little north of the city. You should Google a place called So Dong Kong.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/so-kong-dong-atlanta

Another local spot worth checking out is the Clermont. It's a strip club, but not what you might expect of a strip club. It's a bit of a cultural experience.

Lot's of good food and fun places in Little Five. Corner Tavern is one of my favorite spots for drinks and really, really good bar food.

I agree with the above poster.
The Death adder is simplistic, light and responsive. You don't need ridiculously high DPI in Starcraft. 2000 is more than most people can handle. The new Optical laser upgrade has made the DeathAdder much more responsive too. I have both the old one and the newer model and I could tell the difference Straight away.

Ormsby's at 14th and Howell Mill is a nice pub close to downtown with a good beer list, including beer cocktails. I've heard their food is pretty good.

For burgers, you definitely want to check out FLIP burger or YEAH burger (both in that area on howell mill). Also, Tacqueria Del Sol for tacos, and R. Thomas for healthier stuff. There are lots of good restaurants in Decatur if you are willing to check it out.
Do or do not; there is no try.

Everyone saying the DeathAdder is really awesome is right, bought it when I built my computer ~9months ago and it's worked beautifully for me so far. The most comfortable mouse I've ever owned =D

FLIP is overrated.

But, the same chef opened a better (and cheaper) burger place as well - Yeahburger. GREAT food.

However, if you havent been, you definitely need to get a burger at The Varsity. And Onion Rings. And an FO. Just ask for it and enjoy!

If you're in Atlanta you have to eat at the Vortex in Little 5 Points. It's sort of a must.
