When he was outside earlier, he found our cat, around 5-7 years old, dead. Looks like she quietly slept in. Guess she had a strain on her heart.
You know, we're all sad, but she had a happy life, and though I actually do miss her (I kinda find it silly to say so, but I do), I'm sure she's happy wherever she's gone.
I hope you guys treat your family, your friends, your pets, your beloved and even your own self well. Someday, they'll be gone, for better or for worse. I'm happy, sad and a bit nostalgic remembering of the times when she'd nestle up to me and purr happily like she always did.
funny how much a pet dying can affect you my cat died about 4 years ago when i was 18. We had 2 but one was crap -_- i loved the one that died, i found out while i was at work, and ill be honest, i had to go on a break cos i cried a little. Cats give so much and want so little in return, all this BS about a dogs a mans best friend, i think its a cat. A cat will just come and sit with/on you, or sleep on your bed. They dont smell they dont take up much room and they dont make much noise. Perfect pets
im sorry for you loss i couldnt replace my cat cos i couldnt face it dying again
Condolences to your family about your kitty. I just lot my dog a few weeks back and TL blogged about it, hopefully the responses here have the same positive impact it had on me dealing with the loss of your pet.
My little cat sends her warmest condolences. Meow! She says there are lots of other kitties out there who need homes and are happy to kill bugs for you and such
My cat died about 2 years ago. It was especially hard on my little sister, that cat had been with her almost her whole life. She still sleeps with her ashes. Fuck, I loved that cat.
You must be young, well you have a 60 years old father, so you could not be that young. Well, what I try to say is that it sounds like it's the first time you lose a pet.
I've had so many cats when I was young. Up to 24 at the same time (with the babies... we had to, well, kill some), some I loved, so I didn't care about, some that were responsive, some with great/dumb personalities.
In my experience, the males always ended up disappearing at some point. No corpse, just gone. We would sometimes see them again, roaming.
Females however were staying home, and the oldest was terrorizing the younger ones. This pattern never failed to apply, as soon as the old female was gone, the next oldest would then claim "ownership" of our house, and terrorize every cats, friends or foe. Very matriarchal system, when I think about it.
I have not much else to say regarding your cat.
Always a sad moment when a cat with a great personality vanishes.
That is so sad. Your cat was only 5-7 years old? That's actually not old at all for a cat. I wonder if she may have had some kind of health issue that you weren't aware of. My cat is 8 and yes he is getting a bit more sluggish but he's still his old self for the most part. I will be devistated when he passes. All of us have a limited time on the planet and the older you get the more you realize just how short a time you have. I agree, give love freely and enjoy every day. Live is truly short. I'm 32 and really starting to notice these things.
That's how my cat died a couple of years ago. He was only 3 and just fell asleep in his favourite spot I'm sorry for your loss, it can be quite painful depending on how attached and close you were to the cat. Hope you'll feel better with time!
During my youth I we had at home several cats. Not the house pet cat type. The stray-cat-wandered-near-got-feed-liked-the-food-and-remained-there type.
The first one was a female cat. Stray but though as nails. After being around for about a few months she got pregnant and gave birth to four little cats. Two 'boys' and two 'girls'. One of the males, Henry Matisse, died when he still was one and a half years old. The other died after that in a territorial dispute with the bigger cats of the area. But the real treat were the females. Independent just like a cat should be. If there weren't any food around they would hunt down whatever crossed their paths: little lizards, birds, rats, crickets lol.... But they would be always around to receive the daily dose o petting (spelling?) and to try to sneak inside the house. Remember that they weren't allowed inside.
One of them, Mona Lisa, was very persistent. She would seek a open window or door to sneak in and despite our efforts she was often seen laying in the couch, resting like a boss. She was also very adorable so everyone liked her the most. So when she entered in the house my parents would cut her some slack before putting her back outside. Life was good. She even gave birth to five kittens in one of my closet drawers. It was in the middle of the night when I start to hear some'Meeoowww's from the closet, followed by some higher pitch little meoows... That was funny lol
Mona Lisa was a very good hunter. She always hunted food for her kittens. Sometimes she would bring food (read 'rodents') to our door step, like most of the cats do, right? There was a year that he had a rat infestation on the island (were I lived) and one morning there were SIX dead rats in our backyard. And I'm not talking about about those little mice you see people buying to feed snakes. I'm talking about big ass rats. The kind you see in horror movies climbing out toilets. My mom freaked out lol.
In Fall we have hunting season. He have many rabbits and some wild birds that the locals like to hunt. They only allow hunting at Thursdays and Sundays and you can't go near residential areas. One of those Sundays I heard some shots nearer than usual and got a strange feeling right away. Something was wrong but I didn't know what. Mona Lisa, that would 'check-in' at least one time everyday (meal time ofc!) didn't show up that day. Neither the following two days. So I went to search her. There was a place near home were I used to play that had many trees, vinyards and vegetables planted. It had also a very wide and deep dry water reservoir. It had a 10 meters radius and one meter high stone wall. I went directly to it because the shots I heard earlier came from that area. When I arrive at the place and look down I saw Mona Lisa liyng dead in the center of the reservoir. The hunters, sons of bitches, shot my cat just for fun (she couldn't be mistaken with a rabbit) and throw her to the reservoir. I coudn't even go pick her to bury her decently because it was too deep. Everytime I went there I could see the time consume her until the grass in the bottom covered her bones. She was the best cat I had and gave me and my family many fun and tender moments.
After all these years I remember how it feelt finding her there. So after all this rant I want you remember all the good times you spent with her and all the joy that one can only get if you own a cat.....yeah, you know what I'm talking.
RIP Cat.
-Sorry the wall of text. But I just felt that I had to talk about it.
The cool thing about cats in my opinion is that they're so independent and yet they choose to be around you and show their affection day in day out. There's nothing keeping them from going outside and never coming back yet they stick around because they're completely satisifed with who you are and what you have to offer
I'm going to be a mess when my cats die, I facepalm every time I see our obese diva cat checking stuff out sitting in the middle of an intersection -_-
My condolences. It's always hard to lose a pet. I love my cats; I love all cats. May she rest well.

^ What, you couldn't just try to find homes for them or maybe, I don't know, get your cats fixed? And what's more, do you think someone who's just lost their cat wants to hear about how you killed kittens?? I know this is the internet but for heaven's sake it wouldn't hurt to be a little more sensitive.

Treat people with love while you can, TL.
OY.
No need to feel silly about missing her. I work at a veterinary specialty hospital, and I know people who have spent at least $40,000 on their dog. I recommend you get another cat so that you can give another animal a happy and loving family .
Sorry to hear that, a pet is often more then just a pet it's infact a little bit like a good friend so no need to be sorry you miss her, she was a big part of your life after all. My condolenses.
about a year ago, 2 of my dogs died with the span of about 3 days. The first died of a sickness, and the second (his brother) died of depression. We saved the third and final dog by keeping her inside, as they were her only friends. She's living a happy life now with my family + our 2 cats.
RIP. My cat went missing since last year. He usually shows up everyday, several times a day to eat and lounge around but now he's gone. When he was 2 years old, he got into fight with other cats and came home looking really messy. I took him to vet to get him looked at and when we left the animal hospital, he jumped out of arms and ran away (he was really scared of all the other animals in the hospital). I went looking for him but he was long gone. 2 days later he shown up at house acting like nothing happened. It felt like Christmas when he came back but now he's gone. I went looking for him at the usual places he hangs out and ask my neighbors about him. He just disappeared. I still have hope that he can surprise me once again even though it feels unlikely.
