I saw the other blog where another person was asking to recommend him a book, but I don't want any fiction, I want real life advice.

Here is a link to the life of virtue stuff. Ben Frank would make a grid for the week that had every day/virtue combination (you can get a pdf on the site). At the end of the day he would put a mark in the virtues he messed up on. Although its well documented he didn't live up to a lot of these virtues, the pursuit of a virtuous life is its own reward. http://artofmanliness.com/2008/06/01/the-virtuous-life-wrap-up/ Maybe not exactly "inspiring", but "How to Win Friends and Influence People" really got me excited about the art of socialization and negotiation. It's not just for the socially maladjusted- everyone will find that they break at least one of the simple rules that are laid out on how to be a socially wholesome and likable person. I guess it is inspiring, or at least it inspired me to try to and make myself more approachable and friendly. Neither of those two are stories of conquering life-long goals or climbing Everest- they aren't even stories- but they might help you set some lifelong goals that are really worth achieving. | ||
