1) The first letter of the first word in a sentence is capitalised.
2) Whereas "it's" is a contraction of "it is", "its" is a possessive pronoun.

I think asking your neighbours to be quiet for a while is perfectly fine, albeit that you should try to talk to them instead of writing a note. Also, "Geschrei" and "Lärm" easily render the message passive aggressive (which would make most people angry, which doesn't help you at all) so it's more sensible and more effective to actually talk to the people. Obviously they're not partying or anything, so it's not like they'd read your note and go "Oh, right, we totally should stop arguing about the future of our family and our financial situation because apparently there's a student who needs to pass an exam."

I can see your point with "geschrei" but Lärm is like the perfect word for this situation and describes it 100%. AT least thats what I think.
Im not even sure why they were loud , if it was arguing or anything else. I chose to write a note because in my imagination talking to them wouldve been really awkward(+ I thought if my neihgbours tried it, why should it work when I do it). Maybe that's why Im having a bad conscience now.

I don't think you are being a dick in this situation. Your other neighbors scanning and giving the message to the landlord shows that there were other people who were having trouble with the loud neighbors and they used your note as supporting evidence to their complaints.

Seeing as the family brought the nuisance to you, in an enjoining private residence where the expectation to privacy would be less than in 2 neighboring private homes separated by yards and a fence -- you were perfectly justified in your action (in my opinion it was even less of action than what you should have taken). As you already mentioned, the other neighbors had already tried to address the problem. As that had happened, the landlord did retain the right (as a clause in the lease) to evict residents for whatever the reasons are as stated in the lease agreement. The landlord was effectively looking out for the well being of ALL the residents in your building. As such, the landlord was justified as well in their actions.

In short -- not your fault, not your problem, don't feel guilty and hopefully those people learned something and the next new neighbor(s) won't be bad either.

Your intent combined with the fact that you weren't the one to bring to the landlord's attention makes you not a dick. The only thing you could have done better would have been to talk to them directly. However, I think we can all agree that knocking on somebody's door to tell them they need to keep it down after midnight is a just a little bit awkward.

While you may feel unfortunate about the results, it wasn't your call to make. You had no malicious intent, your complaint and request was quite reasonable. When it came down to it, the landlord decided they needed to go - it was their call to make and you should not feel badly for a decision the landlord made.
