So i was on a SC2 pro scene hibernation the last few months and did not follow the happenings at all.

Now i watch MLG Winter Arena and i got 2 questions:

1) Why did they switch to this kind of studio format? With no big audience etc. This seems like a horrible decision. The whole atmosphere with fans made MLG so awesome last year. Just WTF?

2) I see threads that MLG is PPV now. Why can i watch everything in 1080p then? Is there hidden content somewhere? Im totally satisfied with this already. Why would i pay money for it?

All in all this seems like a few steps backwards from what MLG delivered last year. I really hope im missing something here...

the first our of streeming is free as far as i know

There seem to be an error with twitch's detection of the paywall... On IE i get it when i turn on the stream, in chrome i get it, at some time... So twitch didn't do their job good enough..

And the Arena studios is an addition to the big lan events. Maybe you should look up the announcement threads. Not gonna explain everything...

Also this is seperate to the usual MLG tournament, which will ofc also be happening with the big venues/crowds. This is an on-the-side tournament which is PPV for this weekend.

1) This is only the current setup for the Arena events which are separate from the normal MLG Pro Circuit events. The Pro Circuit events will be just like they were last year.

2) Only the Winter Arena is PPV, or at least should be PPV. If you can watch it without paying for it, something is wrong, probably on TwitchTV's end.

This isn't a pro circuit even (those are free) , this is a PPV winter arena in NY.

You have like 15 minutes of free stream or something among those lines.

Well , im watching for atleast 2 hours now and im reading the same from alot of other TL-users. TwitchTV must have fucked up royally there.

1) I believe the original plan was to have it in their new studio in Columbus, which could take spectators, sadly it was not finished in time for this event.

2) Justin/Twitch subscription back-end is somewhat of a joke. If people are able to watch by simply having cookies turned off well, you have a problem. I hope MLG really pulls Twitch up on this issue.

Yep, me and some friends have all been able to watch for longer than an hour unhindered.

Watching the entire day without having paid a single cent. That's good for me. But if I was a customer that actually paid 20$ I would be raging hard right now. Would I have the right to get my money back? Since I would have paid for something that was free for everyone in the end.
