I head the Emory University CSL team, and we beat undefeated MIT last week, so the Sports section of our school paper decided to do a feature on us. Thought I'd share it with you guys: not so often, as far as I know, that a newspaper covers Starcraft exploits in the Sports section.
Interesting anecdote about this: it actually pissed off the basketball coaches, who wound up sending an angry email through a golf coach to the editors of the section. They were mad because the basketball teams got no coverage whatsoever in this issue, whereas (to paraphrase) "Starcraft got 2/3 of the section — and many people would not even consider Starcraft a sport!"
So outside of that butthurt, I think it was a success overall. The writer did a pretty good job considering he knew next to nothing about Starcraft. I guess what I'm trying to say is this: Starcraft is becoming more mainstream, at least in the US, and I'm really excited about it.

Also, here's the VODs from our win agains MIT if you're interested. Games start around 18 minutes:

And the reps:

Pretty big upset. Before we beat them, MIT was one of only 2 undefeated teams in the entire 200+ team CSL. The other one? UC Davis, featuring the world-famous VileSpanishiwa.
We got pretty lucky, but there were some good games Looking forward to a rematch, maybe in the playoffs.
In any event... COLLEGIATE ESPORTS FIIIGHTING
Edit: Just wanted to say that, thanks I think primarily to views from this post, the news article on the Starcraft team jumped to the top of the "most read" articles:

Always great to see schools being featured in their local paper. It's becoming a lot more common now, gogo Emory!

Did the basketball win anything? If they did then sure they can be a lil mad but if they didnt then...ESPORT

Congrats for the win.
However at the same time what's a CSL match? Sometimes like 4 total games? Anything can really happen.

Set 1: 1v1 Set 2: 1v1 Set 3: 2v2 Set 4: 1v1 Set 5: Ace
it's like GCPL or NASTL format except ace match is still bo1. and yeah, crazy snipes can happen which makes it a pretty exciting team format imo

Awesome!
Fun article too.
For some reason I derive so much pleasure from reading an article that describes starcraft to noobs.
"When he took his army to attack [my expand], I went to attack his main base which had his main production facilities"
Lol I liked that alot, seems like a pretty good game. What was the matchup?

Matchup was TvT! There was a pretty sick base trade — could have gone either way. We got pretty lucky I think, but we'll take it
