I'm a little over a week back into school now, after a hellish December of exams and a much-needed vacation with the wife in Mehico. So before the workload gets heavy again I'm delving back into LoL!
I noticed when I got back I was super rusty so that good ol' ladder fear is kicking in, but hopefully I'll feel ready to grind out solo-queue games soon enough. Lately though something has seriously been bothering me. (Smashgizmo can attest to this; thanks again for helping!)
I can't win the Pantheon vs. Mordekaiser matchup. Reading a few pages back on the Pantheon thread (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=258275¤tpage=21) people say it's an easy matchup for Pantheon and Morde should get stomped, but I just can't do it. I've been practicing against a friend who is probably worse than me in overall skill, so much so that I usually beat him in every matchup we try, even the imbalanced ones. This one though, I get completely destroyed.
Supposedly you're supposed to start DBlade and harass from level one then zone him or threaten a kill, but if he starts cloth + pots he can just hang back, heal up and with your next to zero sustain eventually you'll be forced back through attrition! I was so frustrated lsoing this over and over again I even go a high elo TLer to come lane against my friend. His Panth killed him in 5 seconds flat at level 1....it was pure magic.
So I know it's just me being a baddie as usual and maybe the matchup isn't as skill-less as I thought, but still. I'm going to practice this one until I get it right. I know it's not entirely the most relevant thing to be practicing but I hope with the knowledge to win this matchup I will also gain better knowledge of avoiding minion damage while harassing, positioning and zoning with skills. This represents my next major hurdle to get through, as it's killing my confidence. I WILL DO IT!
My next goal after this will be to bust 100 wins+ in normal games. I've been hovering at 85+ forever and I FINALLY broke my record of 88 today so I'm feelin ' that hundred coming soon!
Then, THEN maybe I will be able to grind out those ladder games....
Also if you haven't checked this out in the General Forums (FML those things move so fast, I'm sure no one even saw it ) I recently posted an interesting musical theory piece of video game music sounding like other popular songs and vice versa.
Okay, maybe not exactly musical theory but it's still pretty cool to listen to, imo. Hopefully people will check it out because I'm really interested to hear other people's examples.....
