i once took a "month" break from sc2 because i was raging too hard.
in that time i completed my year 13 receiving 3 awards for basically being smart and getting good grades and got into uni, which ill be starting a double degree next year.
.....yeah my month sort of turned into a year.
actually, if i didnt take that "month" break of sc2 i would have never got bored enough to get off my ass and get the score i needed for uni and my life would be rail roading into nothingness.
who could have thought, that the rage induced from playing sc2 caused me to get into uni 0.0
I support this message wholeheartedly.

Ahhhhh, I've taken breaks but they only make me rage more because I feel like I'm playing much worse. I watch your stream btw, you're awesome
|
You don't need rage to motivates breaks. Breaks can help reset your mentality and keep you refreshed after a really long binge of SC2. Just let all the new information and mistakes you've learned from sink in over time and become innate to your play.
|
whatever you do in life, watching it from a distance from time to time is necessary to reflect about your own actions and decissions.

On the negative side, if you take a break, you could also feel "off" when you start to play again. Could go both ways, but I think it's worth it overall if it cools down any raging.

I'm about to do the same thing. I have been rocking a solid 20% win rate lately. One loss and then I keep getting angrier and angrier. Tilt certainly doesn't help my play at al. Your first paragraph describes how I have felt about the game lately. I had finally hit plat on the KR server, was starting to play vs a couple diamonds, then boom, multiple losses in a row. Now I am facing gold league again
How much time did you take off? Did you do any replay analysis or watch any streams during your time off? Or just nothing Starcraft 2 related for a while?
I may just play through the Modern Warfare 3 campaign and challenges (which would take about a week) then start playing again.

Protoss hate crimes blade wtf hahah : ) Anyway I agree that this helps with any game, I was thinking of trying SWTOR out but im scared to get back into those kinds of games hehe. <3

see, taking a break is a temporally solution but it wont help you in the end. Recently i discovered a way to actually solve my own anger problem therefore i can play almost 40 games a day without feeling hate toward anyone.
I think the most angry that i got is when a guy tried to cannon rush me yesterday and failed and i was 2 bases vs him 1 base and he still try hard with his cheesy tactics. End of the game i just typed 'out' to make him go away.
the point is, you are distracting yourself from the main problem which is your anger management with a minor problem which is enjoying starcraft and i think that is a really bad way to approach this common situation.

I'm doing this same thing right now. Though I started not playing unintentionally and now I'm slowly coming back. Though I'm thinking about switching to zerg..not really sure yet though. Anyway I totally agree with taking breaks, it helps keep a positive mindset and just lets you do other things besides sc2 constantly for a couple weeks.

I always rage like that. Even after along break. Even if i'm intoxicated.
I personally took a break from talking on ladder; if you never type to your opponent, the flood gates never open, and you don't flame them.
Otherwise WATCH THEM BURN

Well I took about a month off but 3 weeks of almost no sc2 at all except for watching some streams or GSL.
I did not launch the game at all but I did watch streams sometimes like Idra or GSL but for the most part no sc2 at all past month .

Hm I disagree in a way. A break for me personally clears my mind and I think a lot more clearly and it helps a lot. I enjoy starcraft when I am not losing. That is for most people who play and get to masters or whatever. If you play 1v1 you don't enjoy losing will for most people not everyone. For me its just a competitive thing that won't go away. Always been super competitive in anything I do which is why I enjoy sc2 so much.
I enjoy the game except when I am losing .

Fuck your race! <3.
Yeah SWTOR is really fun for me, the thing for me though is the only games I ever get sucked into for long periods of time are RTS games. Shooters/MMO's/etc I never get so into them like I do for RTS. Examples of this are I can play an MMO for a month or 2 then need to take a break where as for RTS I played aoe1 until aoe2 came out and I played that until Age of mythology came out, played that game until age of empires 3 came out, all expansions for 3 years + on all the games I just listed. Played BW for 8 months then SC2 beta came out and been playing sc2 almost purely since .

Bladeeeeee Although I know you don't know me, I played you in a TLOpen and had a really nice/close macro game with you. Good luck man ^^

I have to say, that ending to the video ruined it for me.
