Settlers of Catan. Camelot is also a good one. Stratego is another one.

Shadows over Camelot is a great game. You play with a group of people trying to defeat evil and finish quests as a team. The hard part is that evil is always progressing, no matter what you do. The key to the game is trying to time and resource manage with your team. The team also gets one traitor that works against them that is 'secret' and has to be found out.

It is very interesting playing a game where everyone is on the same team against 'the game'. Totally different take on your average board game.
