who are you?
I'm a 16 year old Grandmaster Terran player on It's GoSu eSports. I went to four MLGs in 2011 and also qualified for/played in IEM New York 2011.

I'm considering getting a mechanical keyboard, so if you have experience with them, do you have any advice for getting one?

Not much really. I got PSAT score back a couple days ago, was 213/240, 99th percentile of juniors in state/nation. SAT isn't really a worry for me, I'll do a bit of practice but no intense studying. I should do very well anyway. Dude, we got the EXACT same PSAT score! Cool ;o I got 206 when I took it last year, so SAT should hopefully be even better (even though it is longer/a little more involved but I'm really not worried about that).

They want me to go to college so I will have some safety and also have a better chance of getting other jobs in eSports in the future. I plan to go to college (and not community college lol) but I am considering taking a semester/year off after HS if I feel like I really want to try my best to reach my maximum potential. I'm going to be stupid and give advice for a sec: Remember that community college shouldn't be laughed at. Very cheap and most 4 year colleges will accept an associates degree and basically set you up for doing a major with almost no general education credits. If you don't know what you want to goto college for, getting an associates from a community college is a GREAT idea. Too many people spending money that they are not going to make back when you don't know what you really want to do with your life. Anyway ![]() True enough. We'll see. ![]() I go to a very high-achieving high school with like 99% of people going to a 4-year college right after HS, so I kinda feel like it would be a waste of time to go to a prestigious/difficult HS (college admissions officers in the northeast at least recognize it right away) if I were to just go to community college. Yeah ![]() If that's not a problem then ignore what I said!

I currently use a Razer Blackwidow. I really like it a lot - blue/brown mechanical switches are both fantastic for me. Honestly, I don't think keyboard to keyboard is all that much different - the switch types and key layout is what you're more interested in. (For example, I hate keyboard with an extra-large enter key like SteelSeries keyboards, etc.) If you can try a couple switch types and see what you like that would be optimal, but anything with browns is imo a pretty safe choice.

The goal is to finish at 90ish, but I'm not sure if that will happen. That's weird. In Canada all they really give a shit about are your grade 12 marks.

Grade 12 is more important for AP classes (for college class credits) / doing whatever else you want to have a head start in college. Junior year / 11th grade is by far the most important and hardest (my current grade). Especially 2nd half of 12th grade people fuck around a lot, as long as you pass classes doesn't matter much.

I'm going to jump in just in case this info helps (I've studied a lot about keyboards and own two filco's with cherry MX Browns). The easiest way to get a FILCO is wait for them to be in stock on amazon (a lot of searching etc). You can get Cherry mechanicals in the US from DasKeyboard or the Leopolds from EliteKeyboards. You can find everything you every wanted to know about mechanical keyboards on GeekHack For example: The Mechanical Keyboard Guide The Cherry MX Switch Wiki page

Also, why did you chose terran over protoss or zerg and why? Do you ever wish you'd tried out the other races instead?

I have very limited practice time and want to make effecient use of it, and I don't know weather I'm at that stage yet. Also, why did you chose terran over protoss or zerg and why? Do you ever wish you'd tried out the other races instead? The only time I watch games is when I'm learning a new build. For other things I mostly discuss with people / yell at teammates with questions. I dunno, I got where I am 99% through just gameplay and talking with players. I chose Terran because I played it in BW, really.. I played random for 2 weeks in beta and was best at Terran. I think I would enjoy both of the other races more than Terran, but I don't really have the time to get good at them.
