Reasons to look forward to Winter Break:
1. SC2 Its been soo long since I've been able to sit down and play serious consecutive games of Starcraft and when I had the time, I played ALOT! Like maybe 15-20 games per day. I know that 20 games isn't much for pro players but considering I'm not a pro, or even semi-pro and have no aspirations of becoming one (I don't think I could handle the stress), I think 20 games per day is quite a few games. So, going from playing 20 to almost none has been pretty frustrating and annoying. Can't wait to get back on the ladder. Also, I've decided to make the switch to random from terran for many different reasons so having more time to play is going to be awesome.
2. A break from Transit You know what I hate? Transit. Public transit. And currently, It takes me 2 hours to get to my university from where I live. That means I'm on buses and/or skytrains 4 hours a day. That's a sixth of my day. And its usually during rush hour, so I can't do anything productive on the bus either. I'm really looking forward to not having to do that for at least a couple of weeks.
3. A break from School I generally like going to school mainly for educational and social reasons but this semester has been a particularly trying one. I haven't had to work this hard in any other phase of my education. (Currently, I'm a second year science student trying to get a bachelors in biology.) I did absolutely no work during high school and was still near the top of my classes. (I know that's not a big accomplishment.) So, its a new thing for me to actually have to work hard to keep up with school. And, I've been doing pretty well but a break would be nice. So, after this week filled with exams, I'll have some time to do other things beside school work.
4. Sleep and related things I hate sleeping. It's such a waste of time. I'd rather be doing pretty much anything else than sleeping. Which is why it usually takes me hours to pass out from exhaustion every night. So, I've been wanting to try and adapt a polyphasic sleep schedule. I didn't wanna try it during school cause I couldn't afford a crash. Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading. And I hope everyone has a fantastic Winter Break. PS. My laptop is back in business after the great HDD disaster of '11. PPS. Also, thank you TL mods for the name change. DragonFist was cool when I was 12.

I'm looking forward to winter break because I want to go ski more than just on the weekends :D I'm hoping for a lot of snow. Of course, playing SC2, sleeping, and not having school will be great as well.

skytrains? what are skytrains? and what university do you go to that takes 2 hours to get to? I too am looking forward to no more boring transit time!
|
Lol. Skytrains are kind of like subways but thats what they are called here. Also, I'm going to Simon Fraser University.

this more than anything. i travel 2 hrs a day too for uni, shit fucking blowsssss. thank fuck im moving there in like five weeks

Four hours travel everyday, god that must suck. Makes me grateful for the twenty minute walk I have.
Yeah, I'm pretty excited for break, last year was just bw 12hrs/day + whatever else, stay up till 4am lol. Don't know if I'll be doing that again, but I still have Bioshock, HL2 and kotor to finish off from last year.
A break from school will be nice, it kinda sucks cause all my friends will be gone for like 3 weeks though.

Looking forward to it as well. This semester has been a lot different after 2 years of living at home and just traveling to college. Moving into the dorms this year has been an experience but I'm ready for a month at home. Hope your semester next spring goes well OP

5 min walk to and from campus ftw. I'd never put up with a 2 hour distance, even if I had to pay a ton more to live on campus. If you value your time at minimum wage, you're losing $200 per week which could go towards living in a closer location. xD
I agree it'll be nice for a couple weeks at home though.

...You don't think I wanna live close to my school? I would absolutely do it but there are a number of factors preventing me from doing so.

Mother-fking QFT.
I have the same damn dilemma right now. I'm churning a 12 page paper as we speak and it's due tomorrow at 10am! I probably have the longest break I'll ever have in my life ever, but yeah 6 months is the greatest time off from school! I take transit as well, and sometimes my commutes take around one and a half hours. Overall each day, I'm on the bus for 3 hours.
Here's to winter vacation!

I'm looking forward to the weekend.

Word. Winterbreak is going to be absolutely fantastic

DragonFist is still cool to me. :/

I hear you with the sc2 comeback, I feel lucky to get it maybe 10 games a day.
I've switched to random from protoss, and ending up enjoying playing zerg so much I just stuck with it.
BUT WHOA, about your daily transit that's just harsh!
I should consider myself lucky my university was only 20 minutes from my house, AND I had a car.

I only have an issue with number 4. WHAT THE FUCK MAN I LOVE SLEEPING. If I could, I'd just sleep like 10-12 hours everyday. Feels good man. And then you wake up at 7pm and play BW, BF3, CS, etc.etc until I feel tired.
But alas, it is Exam period and I really need to do some catching up lol.
