edit: I liked Inception but I couldn't call it a mind fuck... Probably because it took a lot of ideas from Solaris (I don't know about the movie, but the book it did) but didn't develop on them as much and so just kind of seemed like a cheap version of solaris with MATRIX DREAMS. lol. and a dumb 'or was iiiit???' ending... hahahaha | ||

I didn't really feel mindfucked in MGS4, a lot of stuff happens but I didn't think it was mindfucking or inception like. Also + Show Spoiler [MGS4 spoilers] + Getting through that motorbike scene to get the Big Boss achievement was a fucking nightmare, my god it took so many tries T_T I was so happy when I saw the words Big Boss | ||

Fuck... yeah. I remember playing through the end of MGS2. It was night time. I had spent hours on it already. Then everything turns insane and my frigging game tells my I've been playing for too long, and I should turn the console off. While displaying false game over screens. While the in-game instructor tells me about his last restaurant meal. Just. Pure. WTF. It's like the essence of WTF. It's like being in a dark room and a giant chair asks you to be his date on Thankstaking day. And then, philosophy. My first introduction into contemporary philosophy of the new virtual era. The first serious criticism of mass-media I saw done by a mass-medium itself. To anyone who has not played through the end of MGS 2. Do it. You might not like the game. But that part is history. I'm actually reading Philosophy of video games, and the epilogue... follows this ending as an example. Pretty sick, I tell you. I completely worship that video gaming moment. I could sacrifice someone to it. | ||

The best part of MGS2 imo was the tanker episode.Loved doing speed runs on that one,makes me wan't to bust out the ps2 right now. Something like this+ Show Spoiler + I think my best time was like 10:10 or something,couldn't do Olga fast enough like that dude. Aiming in MGS2 is a bit harder than in MGS3. | ||

Hopefully you enjoy MGS4, its a badass game. It doesn't really have the same gameplay, but it is still very, very good. Great replay value too, I have almost 18 playthroughs, and I'm still not tired of it! :D | ||

I've only played through the first one so far, and if I thought I got mind-fucked when Master or whoever turned out to be Liquid Snake (LOL), I guess I'm not into anything, yet. Also funny was when you're fighting Psycho Mantis and my big flat-screen TV freaks out and displays HIMEO with a black screen. That made me laugh a little, haha. Would've been better if I was in my room, because then I might've been tricked. :p | ||

My first MGS was the first game and I bought MGS2 without reading anything about it but I had played the tanker demo before that so I was awfully confused when Snake had blonde hair coming from the breathing mask when starting the plant... | ||

I highly, highly recommend "Brave New World" by Huxley if this topic interests you. Oh yea, and by that, 1984 is obligatory as well. I never played MSG(well, the first part on PS actually), but I was always amazed by it's political influenced story-design. It's really a mastgerpiece. | ||

Ok, let's do MGS3... + Show Spoiler + where we deus ex in some bullshit to tie the original NES game into the overarching story so that we can pretend it was all our thought all along Then let's do MGS4... + Show Spoiler + Where we try to make MGS3 worthwhile and follow through on the amazing cliffhanger of MGS2 to absolutely no success. The best part of MGS4 is the graphics and the amazing last fight. Everything else failed imho. | ||

Yeah.. when I first started playing MGS2 alone (a friend and I would take turns playing it through~) that part you bolded seriously scared the crap outta me I was 12 and at that time it was just so freaky lol~ it was at night too (((((( But as curious as I am I kept calling the Colonel over and over just to listen to more mindfuck stories... especially the part where he was talking about driving or something? That story literally made me go "THE FUCK?" One of the best moments in the game is the part where your commander goes nuts.("You have been playing this game for far to long!, turn off your ps2 now! :D"). And also..FISSION MAILED! lolol! The pacing of 3 is awesome,but you'll need to be a fan of the series to play that game. Felt like a james bond movie or something. I think 4 was actually the worst of the lot, didnt have that single area/lone wolf feel to it, the claustrophobic feel of mgs was one of the best things in the series, so the openness of it felt a little weird. | ||

Never forget :D (Even if Raiden is a total bitch and MGS2 kinda sucked- those parts were the best.) MGS3 was more of a favorite but by that time MGS had turned to full on crazy talk. Still, one of the greatest series of video games ever and a Metal Gear-MGS(1) is a personal favorite. | ||
