Laddering Like a Ladder, Going Up and Down

I've taken up a second job recently, so I've had less free time than I'd like.

But yesterday, I had mostly a free day to ladder. I started the day 12th in my Bronze division. After a hot start of 14-7, I had made it all the way up to 5th. I had my shiny gold star! ~does a little happy dance~

Then the losing started. I finished off the day, 5-15 for a grand total of 19-22 for the entire day. And rather than the 12th I started with, I ended up one slot back at 13th. My star had been stripped from me. Maybe I should have quit while I was ahead.

I have been paying attention to my stats and yesterday really reinforced it. Breakdown by matchups:

Win% (Based on 247 replays.)

ZvZ: 70%
ZvP: 68%
Zv*: 61%
PvT: 59%
*vZ: 58%
PvZ: 53%
ZvT: 52%
TvP: 52%
*vT: 50%
*vP: 50%
TvZ: 50%
Tv*: 47%
Pv*: 46%
TvT: 43%
PvP: 32%

Hmmm. One of those seems stronger than others. I hate to stop working on my "random" achievements though. Definitely something to ponder. ~nods~

The other trend I notice is game length.

<5 mins: 71%
5 - 10 mins: 85%
10 - 15 mins: 50%
15 - 20 mins: 45%
> 20 mins: 24%

So when is mid game? When is late game out of curiosity?

it depends. mid-game is more of a situational base than time. mid-game deals with certain pushes and certain unit compositions, and late-game as well.

Yeah I agree with this. If you have your tech delayed for some reason (e.g. early push that cripples you, like an 8pool), then you'll be entering the mid-game later than normal, for example.

I think it's wrong to assume something like "Oh my, it's exactly 12:45- I am officially entering the mid-game now!" Times will vary based on the circumstances of the specific game.

Also if you get into a weird base trade where everything resets at like 20 minutes.. you're back to early game. lol.

Just a big fan of Sean Plott

I don't actually think he's a deity. (He didn't bring me to religion or anything like that either; I'm an atheist.)

I got to meet him at MLG Columbus. Super nice guy ^^
