I am a random player in the NA server, somewhere between platinum and diamond in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4. So by no means can I be considered good, but I'm not totally clueless about the game. Basically, I've gotten a little bored with the standard play, and wanted to fool around. So I experimented (often with catastrophic failures following) with units and tactics that are usually out of my "control range". Basically, anything that can't be 1a-ed to victory. And this has led me to a revelation : I simply love ghosts and their tactical nukes!
So here is one my first 3v3 game I played that has led to some reasonable success with a mighty 94 kills ghost :
*With a dark metallic smoky voice, you can hear the story of a man who has seen already too much for one soul :
We had this mission on Tarsonis. Some kind of extraction, but honestly, I didn't give a damn. What's important is that they called out the small guns... Yeah, the small guns with a tiny red pointer that share the love and call down the thunder.*
*I ask my Zergy buddy to let me see that beautiful blue Terran base. It looked really nice, but it lacked some... mushroomy love*
*It's always important to spread your love between the map, and the persons. Red Zerg was the next target of my affection*
*But I felt this instant connection with him. I felt that red Zerg would always receive my love, without a fight! And Red felt the power of my love once more...*
*Come on : Red is on Fire! At least 70 drones have witnessed my burning desire in 5 minutes! And now, I start to get some love back at last! The blue Terran looks for me now! How great it is to feel loved back!*
*At this point, I've given them my love, but I get tired of it. The game of love fades quickly, especially if they can only repay my love with worker affection*
*Hopefully, these nice Spec Ops suit can withstand lots of worker love, and I retired from this planet with nice stories for my kids*

So, what can we conclude with a 94 kills ghost? Please keep note that these conclusions come from my diamond level in team games.
- Only really works at 4 players (2v2) or more. In 1v1, you know he's gonna nuke you, and scramble to move everything, but with teammates, you subconsciously consider that if you didn't see the nuke, you don't have to move your army or your workers.
- Spread your attacks between the bases and the players to keep everyone on their toe. It's much harder on your mind if you don't know who on your team is being nuked
- At my level, you need an army that behaves well with no micromanagement. Tanks/marines are a much better composition than bio, especially when your army is attacked while you were dicking around with your spec ops
- Don't do cute ghost openings. While they barely work in 1v1 (cloaked ghost at 6:30 in front of the ennemy base) you are just going to die if you don't produce "real" units early on in team fights.
- Nukes are like drops : do them again and again, and the expansion will finally fall with all the workers. The price is ridiculously low : 100/100 for a nuke is extremely cost effective, especially when compared to the 500/100 "risk" cost of a medivac with 8 marines!
- When you scan to get vision (your most common way of operating), remember that the scan lasts 12 ingame seconds. So, nuke 10 seconds after the scan to not give yourself away!
- Usually, you want to have two pairs of ghost+medivac on two corners of the map to operate. Try to use them at the same time for a better effect!
- Does depend on your skill, but is one of the tactics that most heavily rely on your opponents lacking skill =/
Well, I have one more story to tell of a 120 kill spec ops, but that's for another time =)
