I am a fairly avid Pink Floyd fan and I along with most others think the best era of the band was with gilmour, waters, mason, and wright. After the bands split with roger waters they still put out some good stuff but nothing compared to what that combo managed to create.

The band as those four members rarely reunited to do anything after they split, and with the recent death of richard wright they wont be able to. But as a long time fan, finding out that rogers and waters were going to reunite to perform what is arguably their most famous song (Comfortably Numb) I got excited!

I don't want to downplay the video, but it isn't the "best" version out there by any means, they are both aging and their performance is less than perfect, but the performance itself is beautiful, symbolic, and something a floyd fan will enjoy.

I always liked the shows that waters put together for "The Wall" they are pretty powerful and beautiful. Having Gilmour back and blaring away on top of the wall is to me fairly symbolic after all these years of the band not being together and having their legal disputes. Anyways tell me what you think of the video and about anything pink floyd!

EDIT: I guess the title might be a bit misleading, they did one song together, not the entire album! Sorry about that ^^

I watched roger waters performing the wall in april. it was awesome, possibly the second best concert I've been to. the best, no question about it, was roger waters performing the dark side of the moon in 2006.

Basically, I condone this blog!

Yeah whatever you think about roger waters or the band in general, you cant deny that they put on the best fucking shows. LASERS EVERYWHERE

EDIT: I figured I would tell everyone what my favorite version of comfortably numb is. What I go off of is purely the ending guitar solo, cause lets be honest - that's the best part! There are literally hundreds of versions out there so it is hard to say what the best is. Most people will say the version on the PULSE album. I think its a pretty good version but its a little too "clean" for me, and I like the version on the Delicate Sounds of Thunder live album much better because it has a grittier sound and feel.
This video is actually shorter than what is on the cd, the solo is condensed, but it is still good on the video, just better on the actual cd!

I aswell, condone this blog. Pink Floyd is such an incredible band and Gilmour is one of my favourite guitar player even though the guitar solo in the video from this OP was a bit off.

Also, he "Remember that Night" dvd from Gilmour is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Pink floyd.

Too bad i used to listen to Pink Floyd while grinding in WoW. Now everytime i listen to my favorite songs of one of my favorite bands i find myself in Netherstorm, killing bloodelfs and ghosty stuff...

And also i hate it when Youtube bans music in Germany

Thank you very much for finding this. The biggest drawback for Waters' performances of The Wall was a significant lack of David Gilmour playing the guitar. It just isn't the same without him.

Edit: And wow those graphics they put on the wall are so good! Modern technology makes things better, haha.

Sad panda...

This has to be once of the greatest tragedies of modern music. Sure stars dieing early is tragic but at least there is some poetic justice in misunderstood performers. But floyd, that was breakup was a crime.

There is something wrong when a band known for pushing the boundaries of music break up because of control issues. If there was ever a band I wanted to see live it would have been them. In the last 30 odd years they could have sorted out their difference. They could have given so much more, but stubborness denies the world their brilliance.

Their gift was being greater than the sum of their parts, and for them to disband because the parts couldn't agree is a bitter pill to swallow

Sad, sad, oh so sad...

Yeah I'm with you there Probulous, I would have given anything to see them live. I haven't read up too much on the whole reason for their split up but from what I gather it was a control issue over the direction they were going between rogers and the rest. I can kind of see that because their later albums started getting wordier and more rogeresque. Animals was like that but I still thoroughly enjoy it, and animals isn't an album I think a "casual" floyd listener would like. But the final cut was just..... bad.

I actually love final cut...

To me it is a masterpice on the stupidity of war. Of course it doesn't really fit with their other albums but that was simply because it wasn't a band album.

Don't get wrong, some of their later stuff, division bell for example, is very good. It is just that the magic went when they split and they have been too stubborn to get over themselves and try and get it back.

Very cool, Pink Floyd FTW. Gilmour was pretty rough, but it's still a great video - thanks!

Animals is second only to Obscured by Clouds in my favorites list. Neither are obvious choices for what people might say their favorite Floyd album would be.

I just watched the Australian Pink Floyd Show in NYC this past weekend. Awesome band that does a faithful job in playing Floyd songs, probably the closest thing to seeing the real Pink Floyd themselves.

But yeah, if I could see Roger Waters + David Gilmour live, that would be amazing.
