With the recent update to TeamLiquid, many have been asking how the new layout will affect those who spend hour after hour, day after day posting here. Naturally, the person who seemed most natural to contact was Torte de Lini, but he was unavailable for comment.
How will the increased width shape the way we read paragraphs? Will centred text look cold and alone now? Will line breaks between paragraphs need to be more or less common? Will long-time TL users find text suddenly obscured by a thin layer of tears, their eyes strained by the sudden need to track further to the left and right?
How many once-acceptable posts will now have been rendered abhorrent one-liners?
When it comes to SC2, it’s always interesting to look at what Blizzard hasn’t noted about upcoming patches. While most commentary has been focussed on the shifts along the right hand side of the page, it’s worth taking a look at what hasn’t been noted in the official documentation for this latest update to TL.
For those of you who haven’t yet noticed, the blog section’s sidebar, once confined to a miserable five most-recent posts, has now blossomed to a bountiful eight posts. This is good news, but the question is, how will this impact the blog ladder?
Side by side comparison, the new sidebar pip for the blog section and the old
A quick look at the blog ladder shows that things have been shaken up significantly since six months ago, when we took our first look at the standings. FuDDx? AWOL. Trozz? Absent. Milkis? The less said the better. Just how much we'll see this change in the weeks following the update we'll have to wait and see.
For the moment, here are the current standings:
MASTERS/GRANDMASTERS
DIAMOND
PLATINUM
I think we need to give some kind of shoutout to Evanthebouncy for his remarkable mass blogging effort, with an unprecedented 226 blogs. Does this machine know no bounds? He is an unstoppable blogging engine, and we salute him.
Just how this most recent shift will affect these standings is yet to be seen, but we can likely expect to see Evanthebouncy benefit most from the increased time in the sidebar.
Is this to be TeamLiquid's shakeup to the blog section in a similar fashion to GomTV's recent announcement of a new, more volatile Code S? For the moment, we can't know, but posters of nervous disposition have already answered with a resounding, "yes."
Update:
Eagle-eyed readers highlighted that even Evan's blogging pales in comparison to that of TL's number one mass-blogger; Micronesia tops the list on the Top Ten Most Updated Blogs.
+ Show Spoiler +This just in, blogs posted today reveal that the new wider format for TL means that blog posts often look to be content-lite. At the very least, I'll have to work hard to overcome the stigma of the new one-liners.

My blogs still look like a chockful of fluff ):
Nice master league for SirJolt :B

Too much theoryblog... let the meta-posting play itself out. Great balance changes for those who prefer quality over quantity.

I hate being stuck in High Diamond-- I regularly blog against Low Master league bloggers like ZNF and Daigomi, but I can't seem to get a promotion. I honestly think I belong in Master League but I just keep on getting cheesed by 1-star votes. I can't wait for HotS to come out and this won't be a problem any more.

I don't want to live in a world where Fuddx isn't #1 blogger.
|
Yee if I cant get masters in sc2, I guess I'll have to settle for it here. : )
Also props to Whatthefat for kind of showing up out of nowhere and really dominating the scene. And good luck to you SirJolt, you've almost got that super high masters spot !

I have these blogging fears. I'll write a good one, but I just can't bring myself to hit that "post" button. Does anyone have any advice for an aspiring TL problogger?

Just do it and don't look at the numbers. Believe me, too many trolls cheesing and mass one-starring.

My blogs are never about me! Muahahah abusing the blog system for other means... Awesome blog like usual SirJolt.

Hmmm, I got removed for being inactive. =O
I'll have to rectify that. I've had something in the works, but not quite enough time to work on it.
Soon, though! Soon!!!

Yes, my advice is to not take any advice from+ Show Spoiler + that one they call Torte de Lini.

Shit, I'm in Plat! I've got to step it up, time to start grinding.

Oh I landed in mid diamond. I may need to continue my scifi story to get a promotion to masters~
|
Come on you have to go all the way to bronze league!
|
If I tried hard enough in blogging, I would be in masters right now, similar predicament to my ladder adventures in SC2 as well. However, my blogging/ladder fear prevented me from doing so.
tommywaaf appears in Masters and Diamond, I believe that's a laddering error, or a smurf, who knows?

This is awkward. I finished S3 in the diamond 9-24 range and my blog rating also reflects this..
Guess it was destined.

Hm... interesting... what if you have two accounts? can you abuse this system by making a good blog, and using the other account to just 5 star it.
|
Master league, yes! Haha good stuff.

I think it accounts for number of 5-stars and try making a new account and see how fast it gets banned (one account per user).

I see what you're doing there torte. Getting mass loss blogs bronze to get more blog stars..
