I'm thinking of buying the whole package and playing my way to level 85. How long will that take?
I'm a lvl 9 dwarf paladin at the moment.

Honestly, WoW is a game that is fun while levelling, but once you get into high tier it will lose all of its purpose. Each item you get at level 85 is obsolete next patch. Thats why I quit after only 2 months.

Edit: leveled 3 chars over the last two months to 85, one to 80. as alliance, you lose all bgs on europe, sadly - thats why it takes me so long.

Actually ingame,(maybe its just mine?) it shows you all the quest npc locations if you have tracking enabled. you can power through any of the zones pretty quickly, depending on how much you get side tracked truthfully

After that, you'll either join a mediocre or worse raid group and kill all the normal modes within a few weeks or you'll join a really good raiding group and clear everything not heroic rags in a couple of weeks. The new content is uninspired and the new dungeons are pretty bland. Sadly, considering that, it's still the best MMO on the market now. Consider waiting for the new Star Wars MMO, which might not be better but at least has the potential.

After you hit 85, you get to raid and farm for gear, etc. It's pretty fun if you have friends

MMo's get fairly grindy, and stale after a while unless you play with friends, it will make it much much more entertianing.

I only find the end game content fun if you have a group of really close-knit people, Gotta disagree with these guys. Yes, leveling is fun *the first time* but end-game content is far more enjoyable. And it's hardly a "grind" unless you are in a hardcore guild doing heroic progression. The sense of satisfaction felt when downing a difficult raid boss is not comparable to leveling dungeons. I run BoT, BH, BWD, and FL in pick-up groups every week and it takes me ~10 hours to complete all of them. No guild commitment, no specific raid times. Considering that I spend close to 40 hours a week gaming, it leaves me plenty of time to level an alt (got a 30 mage now) or play SC2/LoL. Another suggestion for you if you get bored is to go and run the old content. Many classes can solo level 60 content, and you can do 70 content with a small group. I ran Black Temple in a 5 man a few weeks ago. It was really easy but it was cool to check out the atmosphere of the dungeon and the raid bosses. I earned about 1k gold doing it too ![]()

2500 rated warrior <-- I play probably one or two days a week for a few hours, the whole dump loads of time into the game was spent in Burning Cruasade... otherwise known as WoW's best years. If you play 1 hour a day, without the recruit a friend bonus, it will take you a long time, and I highly disagree with those who say that pre-max level is where the fun is at, because almost all of the fun I had in the game was at max level. Also, there are tons of dicks who will hate on you because you're just starting the game throughout the entirety of your leveling.
