So I was studying for my last exams in high school. I was bored and was watching Totalbiscuits videos. I noticed some Starcraft 2 stuff in the related videos. I knew there was a game called Startcraft, so I gave it a try. One week later I was watching Day[9]'s dailies and nomnoming SC2 VODs for breakfast, instead of studying... So I did bad in my exams, but I passed, which is what matters. But I found out about this thing called Starcraft 2.
Now Im working part time, studying for entrance exams for university. I spend my time watching SC2 tournaments and Day[9] dailies, lurking in TL.net (just made my own account yay), absorbing every bit of information about SC2 (gogo liquipedia) and most important of all, playing my daily ladder games!
Im not the best of players. I bought the game couple months back. Stimmed my way thru single player, and was really really really excited about multiplayer. I picked Terran since it felt the easiest one. I played my placement matches and was put into silver league. Felt so boss-like ^^ Then I hit the wall.
My brother had been playing SC2 for some time, and he was put straight into gold league. I wanted to be in gold league too! I played 5 games a day for couple weeks. I really hated losing. I loved winning. Whenever I lost I hated myself and hated the game and hated the opponent and hated everything. I felt like a loser. But still I found myself pressing the infamous "Find a game" -button. I lost games and then I lost more games. I wanted to quit the game and call every SC2 player a pathetic nerd. New season begun, I was put into bronze. I was really really angry and frustrated. But then something clicked. I started to macro (somewhat ^^).
When I was put into bronze and kept playing my daily ladder games, I noticed that I learned to macro better. I always had more money than I was able to spend. Slowly I started to build more raxes, expanding, getting upgrades. I got into silver league. Then I got into gold league. Now Im still in gold league. Im having fun (usually) with my daily games. But I think Ive hit a new wall. I think I need to play more games to improve than just 1 game a day. My goal, when I started, was to hit gold, cuz my brother was in gold... Now Im in gold, and Im losing my drive to get better. I still enjoy watching tournamets and Mr. 9's dailies. I wish to motivate myself by writing a blog in TL.net.

awesome. this is why sc2 will succeed. people like you  but on motivation -- its hard to motivate yourself if you don't actively like improving your play to get to higher skill levels. gauging your skill vs a friend or someone like that is a good motivator for that.

Keep playing until something "clicks" again, it's a really good feeling.

Trying practicing some custom games with people who are a little better than you! They can help you figure out what wall is blocking you!

I have a few SC2 friends, but they are all from my bronze league times. Theyre all still in bronze and not having the same passion for the game as I do =D Guess I need to find some more practice partners... ^^

get some practice partners from people you have good games with in ladder...gauge your skill vs theirs over time

I would watch vids from pro players and just watch what they do. Download some replay packs perhaps, of your favorite terrans, and just see how they play. Watch how they scout, when they build, all the aspects of what they do.
I got placed into platinum league, and I think the major reason was just because I watched how players like Idra played back in the beta. So I hit the ground running, knowing the importance of building drones for an economy and the appropriate counters to certain attacks (I play zerg).

Played some games today. Was messing around with zerg, its a fun race to play ^^ Tho I really overmake drones...had like 190 drones made in the end of the game... But anyway, was fun!
As terran I make too few workers, as zerg I overmake workers... What is this??
Tried to watch some old replay of mine. Noticed some flaws.
1) SCV production could be better
2) Spend dat money dammit!
3) Be active around the map, dont sit in your base dammit! Control towers and scout for expos. Dammit!
4) Get upgrades
5) Macro, dammit!!!
I tried something new, dramatic and completely whacky. I hotkeyed my engineering bay! =OO
And guess what! It worked like a charm =D I had upgrades baby! Boom goes the marauder!
Tiny improvements. Little by little guys!

Good day today. Woke up hungover, watched blizzcon, ate dinner, went for a jog, played SC2 and Terraria. Terrarias fun man! Diggy diggy and all that.
So I played a 30min long TvT today. I lost and was mad obviously, but shortly after I went and watched the replay. It was on Zel'Naga Caverns. He always had 1 more expo than me =/ Better map control needed I guess. He went tank marine and I went marinemaraudermedivac. I thought I macroed well, but meh. Cant always win.
One thing Im happy about is upgrades. This time I had 3/3 when he was at like 2/1. He had like 1/0 on tanks...
Well anyway, problems were SCV production, too few raxes and scouting. Lets see how Ill do tomorrow...Tho Im going to the gym so might have to just lie in bed and thikn about ponies or something.

I saw a pretty girl in the city today... She was pretty. She had a light blue flower in her hair...sigh...
She was driving her bicycle and I just caught a split second eye contact and one second after I was like "Shes pretty, say hi!", but it was too late...Meh.
So anyway. I played an interesting TvT today. I thought Id mix up my build a little and go for 1rax FE.
The other guy was turtling hard with tanks and stuff so I thought Id just expo and macro and get 200/200 marine tank force.
So apparently he was rushing for thors. He pushed with like 3 thors, 3 tanks, 2 vikings and a handful of bio. He started shelling my natural with tanks so I dropped a scan, glanced at his army and just 1a2a'd all my stuff at him. So eventually I pushed him to his natural, and set up a lil contain. I took 3 other expoes, built 10 extra raxes and just threw stuff at him till he GG'd.
My scv production was bad as usual, only ~60 made in 30min game. I had good upgrades, slightly better macro than usual; wasnt afraid to build more factories / raxes when my money got high. Overall the game was very entertaining and I felt good about myself afterwards ^^
Yeah I didnt go to the gym btw, instead I went shopping...
Man that girl was pretty, jesus.

Anyway. Stuck in gold. Nothing new learned or figured out. Boring stuff... I need a practice partner...or switch to zerg or something. I just find terran so booooooooring lately.
I try to play all macro and shit, but then I lose 90% of my games to some rushes that crush my 1rax expo. Scouting? Whats that?? Then when I ask them why they cannon rush every game, they say they just wanna have fun. Well, cant blame them really. We play games to have fun right? Right? Mostly in fights I just stim and go macro again. I suck at micro, so. Well, I can stutter step and all but meh. Boring game!!!!
Im happy for Puma winning Hero in that...some tournament it was. Too many tourneys these days, hard to keep up with!
Think Ill just go play zerg and have some fun...

Teeheheh. Zerg is so fuun man! Won like 2 good games today. And had a proper ZvZ! Wasnt that baneling crap micro battle shizzle like usual. I suck at those since my micro is somewhat nonexistent! He went for some nydus crazy stuff and I just went roach ling hydra and macroed my lil butt off. Seems that 5 base is better than 3 base!
Anyway, should probably go back to terran and play properly. But zerg is so nomnom fun... Oh, DeMuslim is fun to watch. Seems like Im a EG fanboy, though I think Id like to support TeamLiquid more tho...

Yeah whatever, screw this game. 3 games today, got just outplayed by some bronze players... good times. I forget upgrades, dont harrass and my micro sucks. My bio army doesnt work against banelings, and I cant micro against banes. I just try to focus on macro and then I see shit flying at me in the minimap and then see all my marines get turned to goo by banes / mutas / roaches / infestors...Sigh...
Terran is boring, zerg is fun but I dont fancy losing 10 games in a day... Wonder why I play this game =/

Fucking fuck this game. I just lost to some platinum protoss going fucking 2 base death ball. I killed 29 probes with one drop. He a moves his ball to my base and kills me. GG. Yeah "you can get to platinum with just macro". I had more workers, more income, 8 raxes, 2 starports, 3 expos...
Fuck off.

Yeah I think Im done playing this. Lost all my games today to some tank/marine/colossus/infestor/whatever. Always have more economy but fucking hell man. This game just makes me feel negative and I dont want to feel negative.
